Am I being to critical? (useless rant)

The Rangers v. Tigers went into extra inning so it delayed Fox's normal programming. The 'House' facebook page put out this update, "PROGRAMMING CHANGE: Due to extra innings in the baseball game, House will begin at 9:53pm on the East coast. West coast airtime remains the same."

Now I understand people being mad, but I realized just how dumb people are reading through the comments. There was a lot of "what time is that in central?" and "the news comes on at 10 does that mean we only get to see 7 minutes of it?". How do so many people not know that 9:53 eastern is 8:53 central? It was like no one had ever had one of their shows delayed due to sports.

I have no idea why but the wacky concept of "time zones" befuddles many people, alot of which are actually quite smart.

Just one of those things I suppose.

I think us non-east coast sports fans are among the most adept time zone converters in the world, but I do expect someone to be able to type it into google or something.

No, I'm in Denver and the game was over by the time it started here (8 pm MDT)

It's more confusing in Alaska. Some shows that come on live don't come on live here. Say American idol has a live show at 8pm eastern. You would think it comes on at 4pm here but no it comes on at 8pm here. So you have 4 hrs to find out the results before it even comes on here but let's say football starts at noon eastern then it comes on at 8am here so you can watch it live.

Football starts at 10am in the West, so it's not that crazy.

Though for me, a lifelong Easterner, it IS crazy. But we have a lot of west coast people on here so I guess I'm more acclimated to it not being crazy.
