I don't even turn on the AC unless it is around 88 or above. Find you a Tractor Supply and get one of those giant all metal fans, they were really designed for factories and barns. Those things will keep your house cold like an AC unless it is really humid.

I'm gonna need to do the "Weed and Feed" on my lawn, along with some grass seed in the spring and fall I think.

Anyone have experience with spreaders? I've seen the Scotts Snap spreader commercials, and that seems easy, but not sure whether or not that'll get us the correct winter grass seed in the winter (our grass in AZ is dormant in winter and you need a special grass that handles the cold i guess).

My lawns aren't super huge, so I don't need massive stuff, but doubt I'd want to do a hand spreader either (those can take forever, right)?

Just looking for info and experiences! Thanks!

Man just let a gardner do it since its once... most grass is dormant in the winter.. I have some very strong grass (St Augustine) and it is as well.

Thing about seeding is that it has to get down in the grown right or it wont really work so you have to make sure its handled correctly. That stuff is too expensive to waste

Yeah, maybe I just won't worry about the grass for now and get the easy weed/feed stuff for that. I have a landscaper coming through to clean the whole yard up and do preventative stuff on the rocks...I'd even skip fertilizer but there's just a ton of weeds mixed in with grass, so that's why I want to do it.

          Thanks for the input.

Yep man that's normal and people re-seed in the spring for a good summer..I guess it would be good to get the weeds out first then do your thing. It payss to do it right when you do it as I said...costs alot.

To me a lawn is a waste, you water grass, let it grow, cut it down, water it, repeat, buy fertilizer, etc.... waste waste waste of resources.

food>lawns, plus gardens look a helluva lot better, imo.

Yeah, I'll probably just try and get the weeds out and go from there.

Don't think we care enough about the winter grass, but we'll see this fall.

Just trying to get a handle on stuff...once I understood the pool better it was a piece of cake to manage...

For those that are first time buyers, I really dont see why you would put down more than the 3.5% needed from an FHA loan. No sense in putting down 20% or more on a down payment when interest levels are so low. Keep that liquid cash on hand for emergencies, investments, upgrades etc

The point in doing 20% is to avoid the private mortgage insurance they charge you.

That being said, I agree to some extent, we only did 10% (the FHA loan would have been a worse rate for me, got a standard one at a much better rate) and still had savings to handle all the costs after buying a house.

I do want to eventually (after wedding) get to over 20% so we don't pay PMI.

When I bought my house, I did a first and second mortgage at the same time so I didn't have to pay PMI. Thus, I paid maybe $2000 out of pocket to buy a $140,000 house. The interest on the second mortgage was also tax deductible.

Garage door opens about a few inches off the ground then closes again. It wont open, the motor moves and tries to pull it, but its almost like a snag up top.

Dont have a service door and I did let it up those few inches and tried to lift it myself to no avail.

Missed out on going to work today because of this.

Did you unhook the latch that connects to your opener? The door won't move even when it's unhooked from that? You should be able to open the door yourself (maybe require a little effort) unless there's something totally jacked up with the door itself.

I say this cause I had to buy a new garage door last fall so I learned a bit lol
