Chase, great work, man. That's awesome that you and your family and friends can do all of that. No telling how much money you/they just saved you.

We had new floors in our living room, bedroom and main closet (we had to rip up the carpet in their due to a plumbing mishap) last spring. My not handy at all and don't know anyone around here. My dad does flooring for a living but he's 7 hours away, therefore not a possibility. We had to just go with a Home Depot contractor and the labor ended up costing wayyyyyy more than the materials.

The good thing is that we met a nice couple who does floors so when we're ready to do the rest of the house then we'll know who to contact. They're actually live in New Orleans and their first questions was "why you go through Home Depot?" I'm was thinking if it weren't for Home Depot we wouldn't know y'all but from now on we know what to do

Thanks. I wasn't sure about the color and all the blues/grays, but it's working out okay.

Here's a few more pics. Finally got my mini man cave established. It's not much, but it's a start.

So I have around 50k square feet of lawn. I want to put some lime down this spring and I read that the normal application is 40LB/1000 square feet? Surely that's a bit much? I mean that's be 50 40lb bags for 1 acre of land!

I have mosquitoes that like to hang around a wall near a door. Had to kill 2 last week that came in the house

How do you guys keep those things away?

We had these torch things when I was a kid that we used around our deck. Maybe you can find something small to put outside near that door to keep them away.

I'm not sure about lime because I've never put it down but I typically go with what's on the instructions for milorganite (fertilizer), seed, etc...

                  I only eye-ball mulch

Which reminds me, I need to hit up Lowes for some of this stuff in the next week or so. Last time when I seeded around fall something bit me. My eyes and lips started swelling up like crazy in the middle of the night (5-6 hours later). Also had to crawl under my deck to run some wiring for outdoor lighting. I saw a spider bigger than I'd like to see that close to my house. I left it alone though because if it was that big it must be eating good which means less bugs for me (I have a stream/creek behind my house which means all types of insects, frogs, snakes, etc...).

Finally figured out my network/cable box at home in the laundry room...had a switch in it but was only a telephony one, so had to hack a old linksys router to make it just a switch so I could hook up to my internet hardwired through existing cat5 in walls. Also had to figure out where the wall wire from my router area was going and had to cut that (was going outside or two another port in the house instead of having a end) and crimp a new end so I could put it in the switch. Now my bedroom xbox has a hardwired connection, need to determine which downstairs plug to add to switch and get that on, along with getting a 10ft cable for my office.

Feels good to solve that mystery, and I can buy a 8 port switch if I really cared but limiting my spending right now.

Never had to really think about any of this before, but got a neighbor who mentioned stuff happening on their property recently which led them to getting cameras. Crazy just how quick after they left home that someone came to their door to see if it's unlocked(luckily someone was still home for them which is how they found out about the timing of this). How would they know to wait on the block around a certain time, and when someone left? Apparently they're not the only house on the block this has happened to.

Never bought any camera before so I don't know how the system works. Mainly looking for at least 2, for combined price under $200, so nothing fancy. I believe all have live feed access on your phone/computer? I wouldn't mind getting one that you can view feed through a monitor inside(so instead of pulling up an app or computer, you have straight access on a screen).

Want it to be wireless obviously. But I'm not sure about the power supply. I don't have anywhere good to plug in anything, so how would I go about setting up multiple cameras and getting power?
My house was broken into in August of 2017. I installed a Swann 4 camera system. One on the Cars , one on the front door , one in my front entry way and one on the back door. I can see everything that happens on my street now. It's a 1080p system , comes with all the wiring , 4 camera's , and a small DVR that records the video. I have mine set to record for a month then record over old footage. I can view the camera's in real time from my Iphone , my laptop and I have the DRV connected to an HDMI port on my TV. You can also set it up so it will take screen shots of and motion that trigger the camera and it will e-mail the screen shot to you as it happens. The camera's are weather proof and have a nice night vision mode.

There's a lot of setting so you can tailor the system to fit your needs. I have mine set to record even the slightest movement. I get a lot of squirrel
action. There are videos on you tube that are very helpful with the set up, and Swann's service department was great also.

There are also optional microphones you can buy for each camera but I did't bother with those.

It's interesting the things you find out when you have one of these systems, for instance I discovered that my next door neighbors would allow their guests to park in my driveway when I'm not home. Not a big deal but I still put a stop to it.
This 4 camera system I bought at best buy for $235.00

Closed and moved in on my first home in March. Slowly getting settled in and loving every minute. 3 bedrooms, 2 bath on the main floor and a partially finished basement which would double the size of the home and is already plumbed for a third bathroom. Got my man cave set up in one of the guest bedrooms currently but plan to move in to the basement when we finish it in the future.

A few pictures from the initial move in.
