How much would you tip if you were a millionaire?

I was talking with my cousin who is a waitress at a golf club. Whenever a certain NFL QB starter who has made over $10 million in signing bonuses comes back home to play she says he barely tips(never in cash) and he bitched until he got a free membership(the course isn't even in his home town, but 30 miles away). /rant

So if you had $10 million in the bank, would you be the type to still just tip 15%-20%, or just throw a benjamin down for a $50 tab?

Any actual millionaires feel free to chime in lol.

I'd leave incredible tips. No doubt about it.

I'd even consider leaving it up front, to guarantee some good service at a restaurant.

I heard people tearing a $100 in half and giving the waitress a half when they're seated and half at the check.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

lol I've heard a story of someone burning a $100 bill right in front of a waitress after getting bad service. Must be nice.

          As for me, it depends.

If I'm a millionaire with money continuing to flow in, I would tip very generously for those who give great service and still generously for even average service. If I'm making more than I'll ever need in life, I would love to give some back to those who are busting their butt to earn it. Bad service would still get treated accordingly.

But if say, I was just a millionaire who won the lottery who maybe had a few million in the bank but not much rolling in otherwise, I'd probably stick close to what I tip now(10%-25% depending on service). If I was in that situation, I'd be too paranoid about living outside my means and ending up broke again to go overboard.

I definitely wouldn't completely leave someone empty handed though(unless it was bad service, and even then it takes REALLY bad service). I'm not even a tiny fraction of a millionaire, yet judging by what I see from others, I'm a good tipper.

I know I would just because since I knew money was no problem I would probably be buying for my friends and we would all be drunk and obnoxious and would pay them off to not kick me out.

Then at normal restaurants I would too. It was cool to read when Johnny Depp left like a $3,000 tip.

I'd do like Ocho Stinko and tip whatever the amount of the bill was.

                Who is the QB?

I would probably up my tip to around 60%+ in that situation. As of now, I feel that I'm a good tipper. I don't go below 20% unless the service was unsatisfactory. I'll tip as high as 35-40% for outstanding service (depending on the amount of the bill).

I worked at a nice country club in Denver a couple of summers ago and we weren't allowed to take tips, but there were a few members who would just stuff $20s and $50s in your pocket. They definitely got the best service from the bag room workers.

I'm not a millionaire and still tip $100 majority of the time. But then again when me and my wife go out, our tab be way above $50......

Now if I was a millionaire, I would still tip a $100. I never liked the idea of people thinking just because you have more money then your average person, that you should tip more or buy more.

That stuff annoys the hell out of me and my wife. People see us and always try to get out us to buy more.

I'd leave a regular tip like I do now.

Just because I'm wealthy, doesn't mean other people deserve my money for nothing.

LBJ is a douche - read he left $10 on an $800 bill.

Having worked in the service industry, I know how it is so I always like to leave a generous tip (nothing below 20%).

You know what, though? The whole % thing makes no sense.

$800 - how exactly did it come to that?

Did he order 20 courses, making the server work hard, or did he order a $50 meal and a $750 bottle of wine? Just because it's $800, doesn't mean they worked any harder or deserve some huge tip. I just hate the whole % thing. Doesn't make sense to me.

If I were a millionaire i'd give 100 dollar tips as a flat rate.

Bad services gets 50 bucks, impressing a waitress/good service/flirting 200 bucks or more.

My uncle has done that exact thing.

Now, my uncle isn't a millionaire, but he makes six figures, has no children, and has a wife that probably makes in the upper-five-figure range. He tips ridiculously well. I lived with him for a summer, and he at least matched the bill with a tip every time we went to a restaurant or got delivery.

I would do the same. A lot of waitresses and delivery people rely on those tips for income and often get shafted. Sure, it's their choice to work that job, but what's wrong with making someone's day with a big tip? Think about how you would feel as a waiter if your customer gave you an awesome tip like that? If you have the money to give, and the service is great, why not?

Plus, if it's a place you frequent, you're almost guaranteeing excellent service every time you enter.

Hell the biggest tab I've ever had was around $40. Then again I am a poor college student. I think the biggest tip I've left was $20 on a $10 tab. Me and my alcoholic friends were buttholes the trip before and the next time our waitress walked out with $100 in tips on probably $45 in tabs total.
