Tips for doing Great in Highschool

I'm an ok student but I procrastinate to the fullest, and I get really sidetracked. Facebook was really sidetracking me, so I asked one of my lady friends to take my account and basically change the password, so that should'nt be a bother anymore.

I try to do homework, but most of the time just fall asleep. Help me out guys . Lol. And I suck at studying.
    This sounds very depressing lol

It's all mental. Learn to motivate yourself and you'll be good. Sounds simple, but it really isn't. Don't get frustrated and quit. Keep going at it and eventually it will pay off.

Suicide is all a mental thing. We're not saving your life, you are. Don't get frustrated and commit suicide. Rise above it and motivate yourself. It sounds simple, but it isn't. Once you get it down though, you're good to go.

Misinterpreting other people is all mental. Once you motivate yourself to become more intelligent so you can tell what others mean, you're good. It sounds imple, but it really isn't. Don't get frustrated and quit though, keep going at it and it will pay off.

              Do your Homework!

I never did homework and my GPA reflected that. Although i did have a study hall.

Meh, it's part of growing up IMO. You have so much energy and your hormones are so out of wack at that age that it's impossible to concentrate on anything - especially stuff you don't care about. I was a poor student in HS but thankfully basketball got me into a good college, where I was also a poor student lol.

Once I got into the real world I was fine though, since I didn't have to sit around reading books I didn't give a crap about that pertained to subjects I didn't give a crap about. School was just never for me.

My best advice is just try to suck it up and get through it. Do the best you can. Not much else you can do.

It's all in the homework. I'm a Junior right now and my first two years didn't go too smoothly. I had a 2.8 GPA coming into this year because I never did any homework. Now, I decided to just come home, sit down, and do my homework before I do anything else. Now I have straight A's, I've been upgraded to AP classes and everything is good and I'm on track to make it into a good university as long as I get a decent ACT score. Just do your homework and you'll do better on tests and you should be able to get a nice GPA.

Re: Tips for doing Great in Highschool

                    Ask yourself these questions, man.

                    - Do I complete things I start?
                    - Am I an average student, or do I want to be exceptional?
                    - Do I have a support system, ie parents, friends, tutors available to me?
                    - How would it feel if I did BETTER every single time?

Answer those questions - bold them, and print out the answer and tape it to your bedroom door (outside and inside).

I was a terrible, terrible student. Do you know what it feels like to be in Math 1 as a senior? Do you know what it's like to find out I can't play college soccer for a D1 school because my high school grades were holding me back?

You got this, man. Listen to my advice, I've helped many students like yourself - and I don't use any type of ploy, it's just "real" talk, because I've been there - and SUPER KUDOS to you for recognizing your faults early on, that's very admirable - no joke.

My advice and the biggest thing i will impress upon my now 4 month old son when the time comes:

Don't underachieve just because you CAN and still get by or just endure 4 years and be done with it. Enjoy the experience, buckle down and do your work, and you'll have no regrets like I do for not applying myself during high school.

Start with that and you will be in a better position to take advantage of any opportunities that present themselves.

Here's the patented chrisksaint way to get through HS.

                        1. Choose class wisely, don't take anything that's gonna be harder then u can do.
                        2. AP classes, only take the easiest ones.
                        3. Quickly establish the classes u can sleep in and do that each day
                        4. do homework only when it's easy or needed grade wise, otherwise copy/repeat step 3.
                        5. Studying? Yeah do that 5 min before class
                        6. Take advantage of the days u can skip in a semester, u need ur rest

Follow these 6 steps and you too can slack your way to FSU with a 3.2 HS GPA wntering with 12 college credits like me.

Oh wait great? Yeah good luck with that

This is really great advice. I've worked with students who want to do better but don't know how and this is the first thing I go to. Make short-term and long-term goals for yourself and tape them to your bathroom mirror or somewhere you will see it often. It'll help you stay motivated and keep your goals in mind. Make sure the goals are realistic and achievable, though. There is nothing more discouraging than setting unrealistic goals that are impossible to achieve.

Get your support system involved. Tell your family, friends, etc. about your goals and ask if they'll help hold you to them.

It's great that you want to improve this area of your life. Keep finding ways to motivate yourself and you'll be alright. School isn't for everyone, so it can be really tough. Keep your goals in mind and find a way to reward yourself when you complete them.
