Reading through alcohol laws by state on Wikipedia.. wow, I love California.

Only designated liquor stores sell alcohol and liquor in DE. I've always known it to be this way, so it doesn't bother me.

It just made my week vacation in Arizona last year that much better. Grocery store + liquor store = fun.

That's the funny thing. We are about 20 miles from Dallas and the town in between us is basically Dallas expanded out. In 10 years we went from a 600 student HS and two stop lights to a town with two 1300 student High Schools and non stop road construction, a Lowe's and a Wal Mart.

No one cried when those things came, but now that the grocery stores and gas stations will be able to sell beer and wine(no liquor) that we will now turn into the two trashy towns that sandwich us. Another funny thing, the town between us in Dallas just approved beer and wine 6 months ago.

I've already seen one lady bitching, but then she says she didn't vote. Seriously? I already got blocked from the Facebook page against this. I listed 10 towns that are very high class and sell beer/wine. They didn't like that.

I'm not sure if it's every day, but on Sunday's you can't buy it until noon.

          It's Michigan, we need alcohol.

Also, I didn't realize there were that many places where you can't get alcohol at grocery stores. I never buy at the liquor store; walmart, meijer, and kroger have all the best deals.

In Texas if the county is dry, each individual town has to vote it in.

Then it can range from having liquor stores to just having beer and wine in grocery stores. I've never seen a grocery store that sells liquor.

Damn, the Walmart less than a mile from my house has liquor but you have to ask at the liquor lane and the cashier gets it for you. At Meijer (I don't think they have Meijer down south but it's very similar to Walmart), they have it in an aisle and you can just grab it and toss it in your cart. There's the beer/liquor aisle and next to that is the wine/carbonated beverage aisle.

I went to college in a "blue" county (Shelby County, AL). It was weird to have the bar stop serving at midnight on Saturdays. We'd have to stock up for football the night before.

I'm not sure what the law is in Texas. Some bars I've gone to close at 12 and others are open till 2. I like the ones in my college town close at 12 just because bands usually start to play at around 10:15 and not 11 or 12.

I've never lived in a place where it didn't.

Usually bands there would start between nine and ten, and finish around one. The bar would close at two. They just stopped serving booze at midnight.

Shelby County? Did you go to Montevallo?

I've never been to a grocery store that didn't sell alcohol, beer, wine, whatever. I never even thought about it either, until this topic.

Yeah, I grew up in Marion County and the only thing the the preachers and bootleggers could agree on was keeping the "county dry"

Sure did. Left in 2000, when I was a sophomore, to join the military.
