    Cramping thread

Has anyone got cramps when they sleep? Last night I got a real good one in my calf, leading to me moaning in the bed for about 15 seconds. Girlfriend thought I was having a seizure or something.

Anyone else get these? I get them in my feet a lot but I just flex my calf to stop them. Obviously this one I couldn't stop since I was a sleep.

I've gotten a handful in my entire life in my lower thigh and boy those are painful. Worst part is that sometimes I'll wait for them to go away, and then when I start to walk it just starts all over again.

Go to the doctor........you have a chemical imbalance or something if you have them a lot.

Occasionally in my calves, in fact just had one the other night. Usually happens if I stretch in a semi-awake state. Generally I just jump out of bed and walk it off, though occasionally I'll just try to massage it out.

I've woken up to really painful cramps in my quad and hamstring before, but it's always because I either stretch or sleep in an awkward position.

When I fractured my Tibia/fibula I got the most painful cramps of my life, but other than that nothing really.

I hate waking up to cramps in my calves. I haven't had one in awhile. I get cramps in my feet occasionally. I just try to stay hydrated, but they happen so randomly and the cramps in my calves only happen when I sleep.

It could be something as simple as dehydration too. Most people don't drink enough water. I usually chug a glass before bed.

                  Re: Cramping thread

I don't get cramps too often, but when I do' it's usually in my calves, which kill me. I do get them in my feet when I run around for awhile, but those are easier to deal with and go away rather quickly.

I did have one one time when my GF was on top of me. Without even thinking I literally picked her up and threw her at least 5 feet to the side and tried to get up, but fell straight to the ground. That darn cramp wouldn't go away though, every time I tried to walk it off, I would yell in pain. Talk about feeling like a pansy in front of the lady, but it was hilarious.

Also, I don't want to start a thread on this, but my limbs, my legs more so than my arms, fall asleep very quickly. It also started when I began working out. Before I'd work out, my arms or legs would only really be numb and asleep when I'd wake up in the middle of the night. I'd wake up and have a club as an arm that just slung around everywhere. Or I'd take a nap on the couch and wake up to a tingling leg.

Now, however, I can sit down for 5 minutes(literally) and go to stand up and my legs are completely asleep and my feet are completely limp where I have no feeling whatsoever. And then when the tingling sensation comes, I can't do anything or else it will drive me crazy. The thing is, now that my limbs fall asleep all the time during the day, I have not woken up with a limb that is asleep in months.

                    Re: Cramping thread

When sleeping, only in my calves and holy hell. Depending on how bad it is, it is indeed enough to make you jump out of bed and try to a) walk it off or b) massage it. Either way, they suck...doesn't happen often and hasn't happened in a good while for me thankfully.

However, after leg days at the gym, I find over the course of the next few days, my hamstrings will do something similar and get really tight, but no where near what happens with the calves and it's a lot easier to stop it.

For me, I think it's related to stretching whichever leg out too much while sleeping.

Only happens occasionally after a long night of drinking or a football game.

The worst is waking up hungover to a giant cramp in your calf or hamstring.

Yup. One of the pitfalls. If you can remember, downing a couple glasses of water before bed if you've overindulged does wonders.

4 times I have gotten a cramp in the night this month. What happens is hard to describe though. I try to flip over my entire body, but it feels like my calf muscle doesn't move with it, but the rest of my leg does. Then there is the half second where I relize my muscle didn't move and I'm just like "Oh ****!" and then the pain kicks in, and I start screaming . It goes away after 15 seconds, but it still hurts a little the next day.
