My first model build since I was 16....

Now 44, I just finished this after about two and a half weeks. I painted it while thinking of the "Home Improvement" hot rod; the color's a little off,but not too bad, IMO. Still have a lot to learn, but I think it's alright after a 28 year absence, lol. I'm currently starting another model; a 2010 Vette. But this one was tough; lots of small parts and such. My hands ain't as steady as they used to be, making assembly "interesting".

That is really cool! I really like the color on that car. I can appreciate how much time, effort, discipline and attention to detail goes into building an awesome model like that.

Are you going to keep going and make another after the Vette? I did an Alltel #12 stockcar 2 years ago (no where near as good as yours) and it sits on my home office desk.

      Hey, thanks alot, man!
I have a Subaru WRX ST1 waiting next. That one has two pages of engine assembly instructions alone! I'm really getting into this modeling thing. Although paint and supplies aren't that cheap anymore...

Awesome! That's the car I drive and big fan of Subaru and wanted to remake some of the famous Subaru rally cars. I've always wanted to get into this and make my favorite cars.

You guys are great, thanks for the compliments!

This Subaru kit can be made into either a rally version or a street version. I'm going with the street version. May be awhile before I get pics posted, but whenever I finish it, let me know if it resembles what you drive, Rockin!

Thanks again for the great comments!

Bypassed the Vette and finished the Subaru....

Goofed up the paint somewhat, esp. the back. It's supposed to be a purple metal flake, which was harder to paint with. Tried to fix a run, and well, blah:

                  Still re-learning, though...lol.

Holy crap. I got that same model car in the first set of pics. I stopped painting them when I got older. Instead, when my newphew comes through we usually just slam the cars together to see the parts fly. I lost many of car this way. I would like to keep em in the future though. I moved around to much the last 3-4 years and lost all of what I had. But excellent time killing hobby.

BTW, do you guys normally use "Skill 3" sets or stick with "Skill 2"? I can never find a skill 3 model in any store.

I prefer putting together military aircraft.

My dad and I put together the Titanic years ago, and I have completed a Huey Hog and started on some sort of Messerschmtt plane and haven't finished it. I think the Messerschmitt is a level 3 that I found in a thrift store years ago.

Interesting! I have an F/A 18 Blue Angels plane waiting to be built.

This is awesome. I've always wanted to get into model building. I'm actually fascinated by architecture and have done a few of the 3D puzzles before. This looks like a sweet hobby to pick up.
