I've been wanting to purchase a handgun for self defense since I turned 21 a few years ago. I'm finally about to start a job that will give me enough income to afford one and so I'm finally in the market.
The amount of information out there on firearms is a bit overwhelming so I'm hoping someone here could give me some first time buying tips and maybe some suggestions on what to look at.
A few things I know I want:
I don't want any of those tiny compact ones, but I still want it to be small enough to conceal (though it will probably spend most of its time in a box at home or in the car).
Autoloaders only, no revolvers
Looking to stay at or below $600.
I was at the local gunstore today, but they were busy and no one wanted to help me since I knew nothing and wasn't ready to buy that instant. I did look around a bit though and kind of liked the look of the Beretta 92FS. I'm not sure if it might be too big though.
