Ugh, so the storms that ripped through the mid-atlantic knocked out our power. It is the second night at it was about 94 degrees in our bedroom about an hour ago, when we got a call from my fiance's parents that their power was back on. So glad for that, as it was hot to us, but the dogs were dying. Hopefully we can get ours back soon, my bday is tuesday and that would probably be the best gift ever. But for now I will settle for sleeping in their house with the AC on.

I can sympathize with the hot apartment, mine got up to 96 last night and the other night too. My dog was panting his head off but he still wanted to play toys lol. It made me sad to deny him
At least it cooled off tonight and I could throw his bouncy ball around the place all night for himWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Off Topic 2012
Tonight it was supposed to be the first time I went to a club in the last 5 years because even though I'm not much of a fan of nightlife I wanted to do something different than staying at home. I was really looking forward to it despite my previous thoughts about it, I remember going when I was younger but I didn't enjoy it. The idea was to arrive to a club someone recommended me at 2 am and stay there for like three hours. The problem I had, besides the few quantity of buses at that time of the night, was that the direction I was told was wrong so I ended up stopping somewhere else. The address and the reference of the place didn't match so I decided to follow the address. After like an hour walking I found out that there wasn't any club there so the address was wrong and decided to go to the place where the reference indicated. I waited, and waited, and waited for the bus but it didn't arrive for a while so I decided to walk on my way to that place so I could gain time while I was waiting for the bus. Half an hour later the bus arrived and I felt so tired that I prefered to go back home. While on my way home when I ws watching through the window I saw the club that I was going to do, I even hesitated to stop there but it was already 4 am and I felt tired so I stayed on the bus. Now that I'm back at home I somewhat regret not going there because I waited all week to go there but on the other hand I was already tired and wasn't going to stay there much time. Maybe next week it will be another story.Comment

I seriously think I'm going to need an intervention from eating Mini-Wheats with the mixed berry center. My God, I think I've plowed through 2-3 boxes in the past two weeks.
The worst part is when I get to the bottom of the box where all the "cereal dust" is and try to find that last Mini-Wheat but come to the realization that they're all gone.
And in other news, someone in my family happened to go to 'Murica for a few days and just so happened to bring back some.....

At 8:45 I noticed the wind was getting up pretty bad and went upstairs to see what kind of storm was coming. Pretty much pitch black all around with some heat lightning scattered around. The wind kept picking up and I could tell it was raining, but the damn wind was too strong that all the rain did was pretty much evaporate before it hit the ground. At 9:30 my lights started "fluctuating" and would pop off for a second, kick back in, and stir back up to full power. 9:45 and power went out. Thunder and lightning like crazy. It is a weird feeling being able to look towards the East and West and seeing storms coming at you from two different mountain systems - beyond bizarre. There were a couple moments when pretty much the whole sky would light up as lightning would start over in one area and then rip around in a circle.
Yesterday wasn't too bad until the afternoon. Luckily my apartment stays pretty cool in the day, but I left the windows open upstairs because I'm a noob. Upstairs got stuffy and warm, but downstairs stayed pretty comfortable. My problem was that I didn't eat much of anything yesterday (about half a bag of carrots and maybe a handful of chips), but tried to keep drinking water and Gatorade. I just ended up taking naps and reading comics most of the day. My brother stopped by at about 9:15 last night to check in since my phone has been dead since yesterday morning. I was doing okay when he got there, but we were standing in the doorway talking and all that hot, stuffy air and him talking about him getting heat exhaustion Friday night just got to me and I got lightheaded. Apparently my parents had power back yesterday evening so I just said **** this noise and tailed it over here.
I keep seeing time estimates of 3-4 days. Crazy. I mean, I don't mind missing work, but not like this.
I'm getting ready to leave and pick up some things at my apartment. What an awesome weekend. So much for getting my video game sessions. Also, all the texting related statuses' on facebook are stupid. Do people not realize how things work?

Re: Off Topic 2012
Not having power sucks ***. I just had to throw out a couple hundred dollars worth of food and every part of the house that's not the basement feels like a sauna. On the plus side, it makes the cold showers bearable.
Oh and driving through the storm that caused the power outage was ****ing terrible. I had no idea there was going to be a serious storm so I was on my way to a movie when trash cans and **** started flying around, then it started raining so hard that I couldn't see anything in front of me. The only thing I could think the whole time was that I was going to be that guy who got killed by a tree falling on his car during a storm.Last edited by jmood88; 07-01-2012, 02:04 PM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

We got heavy rain here, and some strong winds, but nothing that bad. One of my mom's friends that lives about 30 mins north of Cincinnati got their power back about 2 hours ago.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

What time did you guys lose power?

We are taking 295 south and we are getting off at 198, the 198 exit is partially blocked by a fallen tree, so I go around that and turn on Russet Green heading home and that street is also partially blocked by a fallen tree. I also notice that all the shops on the other side of 198 have no lights and the parking lot is dark the whole of 198 is pitch black (like something out of a zombie movie). So we pull into our neighborhood around 10:15 and out power was out until about 2:30 am Sunday morning, but by that time we were at my fiance's parents house as they got their power on at 1:15 that morning and our house was way to hot, even in the basement.
I feel bad for anyone who had/has to deal with the heat with no electricity. It was not fun yesterday.Moderator
