You need a girl that you can talk to about this. Or at least have female wing-woman for the future because there's no price on how valuable they are. You think guys on here have good advice? Yeah, but you also need the other side.

Thinking is the big problem and I admit I have trouble with it too because I'm just analytical that way. Ask yourself the question and the first answer you come up with (reasonably) is the one you roll with. Over-thinking about number of communications per day, what to do at night, etc is not cool for either of you. Going over the same thing over and over is what kills you.

In the end, thank God for female friends.

Yeah, I've started talking to two friends of mine more about this kind of stuff. They've both been in long-distance relationships for a few years now and one of them is dealing with their boyfriend leaving her to join the military, so they're kinda turning into my go-to people when I start thinking too much.

And it's not like I'm telling my girlfriend that we have to talk X amount of times a day and stuff. It's just irritating because we're used to talking so much, so now, it's like we have to cram everything in as quickly as possible because we're both incredibly random people so we end up going off on like 15 different topics at a time lol.

I appreciate the advice though. Maybe I should try to learn to be a little less analytical.

Nah, you're a youngin still so its cool. I was like that too and I'm sure if I met some girl that I felt incredibly attracted towards it'd be hard for me to prevent myself from getting in a tizzy.

Just don't let the fretting get the better of your time apart or the limited time you spend together. Use it as an opportunity to enjoy yourself because yeah single life can be lonely (holla), but its also liberating. Don't feel guilty or question about whether you should go out and have fun. Just have fun because that's a better way to pass the time than thinking about things.

I like it. Haha, thanks man. I mean, I'm still having a lot of fun here. It's a hell of a lot better than my first semester when I was a freshman. The frat I joined really opened up a lot of things for me. It's just those 2 or 3 times a day that I end up thinking too much that it sucks, but it is what it is.

Was getting ready to leave this morning and went to grab my phone off my desk, but accidentally knocked my glasses on the floor while I was already beginning to step away from my desk and of course the glasses went right under my foot so I stepped on them. Fortunately they didn't break, but the part that goes over the bridge of my nose is bent so now my glasses are slightly lopsided. Fortunately they're just reading glasses.

Good thing Yeah that Guy isn't in the military and was deployed overseas for 14 months with a phone once every week or two. He would go insane.

One thing I miss about living away from home; coming home with take out. If you do it and you live with roommates its whatever. But if you do it with family its "aw hell naw! you bought food for the rest of us too?"


I find myself eating my food in my car on the way home way too often.

Plus, no way in hell could I swing $100-200 a week on dates without digging a big hole.

Yeah lol, I've realized in this relationship I definitely need physical interaction, even if it's just skyping or something. I think I'll get more used to this as the semester goes on though, but we'll see.

Apparently I'm a lot like my mom was back in her day and apparently she used to/still has a really hard time when my dad leaves, even if it's just for like a weekend. I'm thankfully not THAT bad, but the longest we've gone without seeing each other is like 6 or 7 weeks, which is about 1/3 of this.

How much longer will his girl be overseas?

She thinks she'll be getting back January 11th.
