 Re: Off Topic 2012

Hey I really did have to walk to school in the snow. Elementary school wasn't too bad, it was only 2 blocks. high school however it was 8 blocks from that train station. And for those who doubt it, if you in Chicago, catch the Red Line up north and get off at Loyola stop, then walk west to Bosworth St. Count the blocks.Comment

It's not like the guy is doing it out of the goodness of his heart. I've never understood the tipping concept. If it's "mandatory" then it should be on the bill. But the guy gets paid. And in this case, you've already paid a delivery fee. I've worked plenty of customer service jobs, and I've never gotten tips, so I hate the idea that they should be mandatory in certain situations.

That all said, I tip my waitress (unless service is god awful) and bartender. I almost never get food delivered, but I rarely tip them. They drive. How hard is that?

 Re: Off Topic 2012

Because gas is freaking expensive and they make a lesser wage (similar to servers and bartenders) to account for the tips they "should" be making.

The delivery fee does not go to the driver, it goes to the company.Currently Playing

 Re: Off Topic 2012

It's a dangerous, expensive job to have. There's gas, ridiculous car insurance rates, and one of the higher probabilities of any job of a crime being committed against you while working.

By your logic, how hard is it for a server to walk 20-30 feet 3-4 times to take your order, bring your food, check on you, and then give you your check. They're making about the same hourly wage. Why do you tip one and not the other? It makes no sense.Comment
