 Re: Off Topic 2012

Retail sucks, but someone has to do it.

I hate seeing people use working in various retail stores as some sort of joke, to make themselves feel better about having some high end White Collar job.

I work in a Car Dealership. I draw a salary and partial commission off of vehicles sold, so I won't be getting a Christmas bonus.

I did just get my bonus for the month of October.. we sold 115% of budget.. very nice bonus check indeed.Comment

 Re: Off Topic 2012

I don't normally get a bonus. However, our employee group did just finish negotiating a contract that had a small retroactive raise to the beginning of 2012, a small raise starting on 1/1/13, and a one-time lump-sum payment. My next pay check will be about $1200.00 higher than normal after taxes.

I'll spend it on Christmas gifts, pay off a CC balance that's been nagging me for awhile, and maybe

 Re: Off Topic 2012

I think I got the same last year. I can't really remember.
OS OT question (for those of you who aren't jobless): How much are you getting this Holiday season for your bonus, and what are you going to spend it on?

I'll go ahead, I'm only getting $500 (because I barely started at my facility in March) and I've not a clue what I'll be spending it on.

I used my tax season bonus to buy myself a guitar so any amount I get will go to credit card/Amazon. I already treated myself enough on Black Friday. Luckily I didn't break the bank.

 Re: Off Topic 2012

Last year (first year, full timer in May), they gave me 2K. After taxes it was about $1,250. From speaking to another who was in the same situation as I was but a year ahead, he received 4 last year. I'm pretty sure my boss doesn't give a **** about performance and bases it on tenure, so I guess 4 is my expectation, but anything is appreciated.Almost forgot about that, we get ours around the 15th or so.

Bonuses usually end up going towards you using it to buy gifts for others. This December I say screw that, time to think of what I'm going to buy with the extra cash.

As far as how I'll use it, I'm stashing most in my savings, but I have one CC balance that isn't at 0% and I'll take that away. The other is at 0% 'till Sept '13 so I'll just slowly work it down.

EDIT: I'm more looking forward to my tax refund. I withhold as single-1, and file head of household with 2 dependents. I should get back between 4-5 this year.Last edited by cjonesfan921; 11-30-2012, 12:41 PM.Comment

But, my paycheck I get every two weeks more than makes up for that.
This. I'm probably getting back about 7. That's my Christmas bonus lolEDIT: I'm more looking forward to my tax refund. I withhold as single-1, and file head of household with 2 dependents. I should get back between 4-5 this year.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

 Re: Off Topic 2012

I usually only get back 1500-1750 every year, but I'll be making almost $15,000 more this year than I did last year. I'm excited about that.

I don't claim anyone and I don't own a home.. so I just get to file on what money I made throughout the year.Comment

 What do you do?

And, I get paid monthly which sucked at first! I've since gotten used to it but I'd prefer bi-weekly.Comment
