Re: Off Topic 2012
Surprisingly no. A lot of the gas stations around the Milwaukee/West Allis area where I'm from have the pumps hooked up to a computer at the cashier's desk that allows the cashier to see how much gas you pumped and how much it costs. Just walk in, tell the cashier what pump you're on, and they bring it up on the computer.
Personally, I've heard of people pre-paying for gas, but never actually seen anyone do it.Comment

Mind making a trip to the south on your way? I'll bring my own drums and allow you to have one once we're done.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
There are some gas stations around here that require pre paying, because of drive offs, but I always buy my gas at the same place and they just turn it on for me if I'm paying cash.
I usually just swipe by debit card and don't even worry about it..Comment

First offense drunk driving's only a ticket and not a crime here. So if you ever wanted to try that, get your fill while you're here as well.

Re: Off Topic 2012
To be fair, I think that Green Bay vote was only to make it mandatory, it's still available as an option though right?
Plus they always have the "have a penny, leave a penny, need a penny, take a penny" dishes.
I pay with debit anyway so if I lose the perfect pump game, oh well

Re: Off Topic 2012
So wait, in Wisconsin, you can just go in and fill up, and the gas stations are supposed to trust that you'll pay after filling up?Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
That's not what is surprising to us though. All gas pumps everywhere are set up to the register so they know. The stealing in jest comments aren't geared towards people walking in and saying they pumped 20 when the pumped 40 but instead people driving up, pumping gas and driving away.Surprisingly no. It's just a trustworthy state and that isn't a bad thing.
I'm sure there are provisions in place but with fullproof ways to avoid it happening just means people in Wisconsin are very trustworthy.Comment

Just an FYI, and I actually knew this off the top of my head, there is a law in a Cleveland suburb that it is illegal to eat in your car.
I wanna say it's some place like Pepper Pike or something.Too Old To Game Club

Re: Off Topic 2012
The cashier triggers your pump to allow it first. They have to see your license plate and that your car's shut off before they'll turn your pump on.
But you're pretty much right. It's the license plate thing that deters people. Makes you pretty damn easy to track down if you drive off.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn
