I'm used to K-6 being elementary, 7-8 being middle, and 9-12 being high school.

In LA, 6th grade is lumped in middle school too. I'm okay with that I guess. Nowadays kids are growing up quicker so whatever.

The school I came to when I first got to LA was K-9. Went there for like 4/5 of my 8th grade and bounced.

I liked 6th grade being in middle school better. When I was a kid in San Diego, it worked out pretty well, since they pretty much gradually transitioned kids from a elememtary school schedule to a high school schedule from 6th through 8th. 6th grade you had probably 4 different teachers, but mostly the same classmates, 7th you had 5 teachers, and were with the same classmates about half the day, and in 8th, you had homeroom, but besides that it was a high school schedule. I liked that way a lot.

In Washington, you go from a regular elememtary schedule in 6th, to a high school schedule in 7th. It was a pretty big difference. And being a Freshman, but still being in Jr. High is a little weird. The one perk is that you can start taking classes for High School credit in 8th grade.

When I went to school it was K-4 in the elementary, 5-8 in the middle school and 9-12 in the HS. That changed shortly after when they decided to put K-5 in the elementary and just 6-8 in the MS, but they are switching back after this year.

They changed it to include 6 into middle school recently. My elementary school is now a middle school.

Where did you go to school in Washington? 6-8 was middle school for me here.

I had no idea some elementary school went to 6th grade until I saw my education program i'm gonna enter gives me a license for K-6th.

No desire to teach 6th grade in middle school here tho unless I have to at the beginning of my career, screw that age group of kids.

Middle school kids are fun as hell to teach. You can still intimidate them and be goofy w/o being corny. Teaching per-4th grade is like being a glorified babysitter

Where did you go to school in Washington? 6-8 was middle school for me here.

Apparently our state is just weird because middle school for me (or Intermediate as it's called in this area) is 5-7. Jr. High was 8th and 9th though it was right next to the high school. We are our own school district feeding into one high school, so that could be why we did that.

I know I've been wanting to leave for about a year now, but now that I'm nearing the light at the end of the tunnel, part of me looks back and says, "You know what, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. I'm happy to be moving on, but I'm going to miss the people I worked with." (HIMYM fans: graduation goggles are in effect)

Writing farewell letters to the people I enjoyed working with the most is super difficult in an emotional way. I wish I could take these people with me.

That being said, tomorrow I'm going to wear shorts for the first and only time as an employee at this company, and they're just gonna have to suck it.
