Less nagging. Less complaining. A thriving wood chipper manufacturing industry. This is an America I would like to live in.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Off Topic 2012
I actually put this in a different thread. Life couldn't be better, but couldn't suck more at the same time.
Fiance and I are getting our own place (a first for both of us). It's in the middle of nowhere because her job is there though.
I'm pretty much all but out (got screwed with paperwork) of the military. I'm jobless and have no marketable skills aside from excellent leadership, basic-to-intermediate knowledge on a lot of subjects, and personable.
Any tips on where I can look to find jobs? I don't even know where to start for doing a resume because military service is just so different than anything out there. Even for basic sales jobs they want a complete resume. I've started one of those linkedIn things, and have been searching for jobs that I know I'd excel in (mind you I don't need to get rich quick... I will have a decent amount of tax-free supplemental income. Plus being a nurse in California my fiance will make more than I do regardless.)
Just looking for any tips from people who are going through/have been through similar situations. Mind you, I hate being unemployed because I feel worthless and unwanted. I'm also not quite sure where I stand on leadership experience. My 2+ years as a USMC Infantry Squad Leader gives me (in all honesty) more leadership experience than people in retail. Not only did we deal with minor issues, but literally ANYTHING that went wrong (be it with the law, personal problems, etc.) fell on us as their leader. We were pseudo-parents, and that should probably count for a whole lot more than working at a store for 3-4 years, and we learned a lot more than dealing with people.
Should I just take what I can get for now, and hope for the best or would you guys vote on pushing the issue a little bit and telling them, "Hey, I'm ready for whatever you throw at me. Give me (even a middle-level) a management position because I, infact, have more experience than needed."
I don't want to overshoot, but I don't wanna sell myself short either.Last edited by ubernoob; 07-30-2012, 04:31 AM.badComment

Take what you can get but at the same time, retail ****ing sucks. I mean, it is a job, just not a very good one.
What about teaching? Not that you'd be swimming in money there or anything, but just judging from the strengths you listed it seems like it'd be a decent fit.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

I went to 2 different universities (for a year each), but doubt I even have a semesters worth of credits. Those were my young partying days.
EDIT: I lied. Looks that there is a decent 2 year college there, so hopefully I can find a program that interests me. Unfortunately they don't have a vet tech one anywhere near the area, because for 2 year programs that one interests me the most.Last edited by ubernoob; 07-30-2012, 06:55 AM.badComment

With Skate, its basically just seeing a cool looking spot and trying to kill it for 3 hours before realizing how much time has passed.
And I received a jury summons in the mail this morning. Yay.

Re: Off Topic 2012
I ran through abd beat Arkham once and never picked it up again. I dont see why it got GOTY nominations by what seemed like everybody. It was a very solid game but it didnt have me hooked or anything. Combat was stale, open-world was alright, stealth was run of the mill. I think the IP carried the game not the gameplay. However, it is certainly is the best superhero game of all time imo.Comment
