I don't think there's a weird quirk or anything about each other that we haven't all ready discovered. Especially when you spend whole summers at each other's houses.

        If I was you, I would probably just move out on your own. That way when you need to unwind or need your own space, you truly have a place to go where you don't have to worry about anyone else.

        If you don't know almost everything about a person, before moving in, you likely wont like them after a while.

          If you can swing a decent pad with no roommate, then go for it. Roommates are it's own set of problems. I have had friends stop being friends with each other because they were roommates.

            I know around here on that salary you'd be doing worse than living paycheck to paycheck.

              Re: Off Topic 2012

              A common issue I've seen some friends go through is having other commitments. One of my friend's had a one year lease with someone and he was getting engaged and married 6 months into their lease. He wanted him to move out or he needed out of his portion of the rent.

              + The furniture and **** used to furnish the apartment or house will likely belong to different people and it makes things interesting.

              He got tired of not having anywhere to sit and he went and bought a new couch, recliner, and coffee tables and the other guy got pissed and said he was trying to make it all his. That wasn't even the case, he could afford it and he wanted somewhere decent to sit and he didn't have any problem at all with his room mate using the stuff.

              People are weird, if you haven't lived with them before.

                That's kinda the way I'm leaning. And I know I can always find a roommate later if I really need to. I'd love to have everything to myself for awhile.

                Yeah, there's no way I'd room with one of my close friends. It'd either be an acquaintance or a friend of a friend or something like that.

                  Yeah there's no way I'd be doing that out there. Here, I'm looking at $500-600 rent a month, with most, if not all utilities included. And I've seen some on the low end of $400 that are pretty nice. Cost of living is incredibly low in this part of the country.

                    Yeah, I wasn't sure of how it was in the city.

                    Back home a nice 1 bedroom place is like 5-600ish.

                    Out here our rent for a 1 bedroom (that is nice, don't get me wrong. It's just not luxurious) is about 1100, with extra for gas and electric. Gas is 4 bucks a month though, whoopee. Put on top of that groceries, entertainment, vehicle fuel, etc. it adds up to a nice chunk.

                    I should probably get a job some day.

                      My advice would be to live with your parents a little longer. $25k is not enough, I think you will end up living check to check.

                      I'm 33 with a stay at home wife and 3 kids now with a healthy income. When I was 22 I moved out and was make just under $25k as well. It was great to be on my own but there are so many expenses you don't consider. I was very fortunate to create a strong network and professional track record that got me out of the rut.

                      If your take home is around 80% your monthly net is around 1600.

                      Rent = 500
                      Groceries = 200
                      Cable = 75
                      Internet = 40

                      Right there is half your income. Gas, electric, water, renters insurance could be another 100.

                      You need to drive. Are your parents going to pay for your car insurance after you move out? What about your cell? That could be another 200+.

                      I am assuming your are going to want to have some fun too.

                      I would seriously sit down and put together a budget before finalizing your decision. Based on just rough numbers above you are at possibly 1200/mo in expenses you do not have while you live at your parents. When you rent you are just throwing that money away. I am sure your neighbors at the apartment will annoy the crap out of you...99% have this issue.

                      Why not save for a couple years and when you are done with school you will have a nice down payment for a house? If you have 401k option through work max that out too.

                      That would be my advice. You still have a lot of life to live and right now is the easiest time to get ahead.

Up until now, I've lived at home. But I obviously make enough money to live on my own pretty comfortably. Would you guys recommend looking for a roommate, or just living on my own. Frankly, I'd MUCH rather live on my own. I don't want to deal with all the BS that goes along with roommates. And I want to easily be able to bring girls home without issue.

                          Also, what are somethings I should have prepared and ready to go before I move out for good?
                          How good are you at budgeting?

                          How much do you have saved up?

                          Aside from electric and rent what other monthly bills are you going to have?

                          How much do you typically spend on groceries? Or how much do you typically eat in a month?

                          Have a car? Gas. Insurance. Annual repairs. Left field repairs (seriously these wait until you have little to no money).

                          What house-hold items do you have or will need to buy? Think furniture, kitchen stuff, etc.

                          Student loans? How much are those payments going to be in the future?

                          The best thing you can do is over-estimate your expenses.

                          I live alone and make between 30-35k. I consider that to be "comfortable" as I don't live paycheck to paycheck, but still have to budget and think about finances on a weekly basis. Things will pop up out of nowhere, but as long as you budget and kick a little back on a regular basis its not hard to do. Of course a lot of people have problems with budgeting and living within their means.

                                Err. My wife lost her small purse that had her debit card and ID in it - She always losing stuff! - Someone used the card to pay their electric bill. I guess the steps are, call the bank, call the store and call Waco PD. The person that used it is pretty stupid. The cops should easily be able to find him. Just a hassel and the fact that they have her ID with our address on it.

                                I've known my wife for 6 years and she has lost her debit card 4 times in those 6 years. You would think someone would be a bit more careful.
