Question for OS:

I have a younger cousin who's in a situation with AT&T and his upgrade. He signed a 2 year contract with them in August 2010 and thought he would be eligible for an upgrade until he was told that because his service was suspended more than twice during that term, his date to be eligible for an upgrade kept getting pushed up and now he isn't eligible for one until Dec. 13.

Now from what I've been told, he's made his payments on time(due on the 26th of each month)and just made his payment for this month, so technically his next payment isn't due until Dec. 26th even though his contract was up in August.

Do you think he should call AT&T and try to see if he can upgrade before the 13th since he has no payments due until Dec. 26 and if so, do you think they'll let him upgrade or will he just have to wait until December unless he goes to a different carrier?

This week our semi-professional soccer team (the one I play at) was informed that we're going to play the pregame before a first divison professional game in one of the most important stadiums of the country. We were all quite shocked to hear about that and now we're all hyped to play the game besides the fact that if we win we avoid relegation. I surely won't play but it really doesn't matter to me as since I haven't played a game all year and I only want to get the win.

Wow.......my payments are due on the 1st every month. But yeah he should call, never hurts to ask.

Any tips to reduce DirecTV bill?

Call them up and try to get to the retentions department. Say that times are tough and you can't justify paying so much but you'd really love to stay on because you love the service. Say you've been a loyal customer, pay the bill on time, etc and ask if there are any bill credits available or something else to possibly help ease the costs.

They're usually pretty willing to help out in that regard.
