Let us know if you are able to buck the trend.

          Where to start...

The magazine isn't published/owned by the Government, nor does it have any connection to it.

Here's the list of the diets they looked at:

It doesn't look like they're promoting the things that you're saying they're going to want to, and money for the gov't doesn't even matter, because again, the magazine has no connection to the gov't.

that could be. but just looking at their #1 diet, the government endorsed diet, makes me skeptical.

look at what they recommend for breakfast:

¾ cup bran flakes cereal (¾ cup shredded wheat cereal) with 1 medium banana and 1 cup low-fat milk
1 slice whole-wheat bread with 1 tsp. (unsalted) margarine
            1 cup orange juice

thats like over 100g of carbs/sugar right there just to start your day off with. and recommending margarine which is so much worse for you then butter. wow. smh

Seems to be a lot of Ph. D., M.D., and R.D. after a lot of those names. And I didn't see any governmental workers.

You're going to tell me that all 22 of those people, that have shown academic integrity by completing multiple degrees, are all on the take?

I certainly am no expert on this diet, and I am not 100% paleo, either. Probably 85-90%. All I can say is that I dropped about 15 pounds of "fluff", and my blood pressure is way down (was pretty high before), and all my other medical screening numbers are where they need to be. I feel great. Look, all I really did was eliminate all the processed foods, enriched flour, gluten, and general crap, and eat real basic foods. My meals generally lack any starches, although like I said before, I still love my whole grain cereal and eat some brown rice and legumes.

I believe in moderation, not extremes, and I think even a certain modification of this premise to fit your lifestyle will do nothing but help you.

Didn't mean to start any arguments by posting that report as I believe it would work better with a few modifications. Sticking to the basics and avoiding the processed foods you listed will work.

It's like the Atkins diet where high protein and generally high fat will work but it is hard on the kidneys and liver.

Doesn't mean anything. They are proficient in what the government recommends you to eat which also correlates to sales.. For example declaring pizza a vegetable.

It's just funny that ppl are complaining bout obesity and type 2 diabetes when the #1 recommended diet listed promotes insulin resistance at 7am of your day

I agree with the basic principles of the Paleo diet (less processed crap, lots of veges and fruit, lower but not no carb etc) but I see how it could be marked down for ease to follow if you were to follow it strictly.

That suggested diet seems WAY to high in carbs and too low in protein for my liking but like Chaos said it's cals in vs cals out at the end of the day that primarily dictates fat loss / gain.

I quit worrying so much about my calories.

I burn a lot off, when working out every day.

I pay attention mostly to Sugar, Carbs, and Protein..

Needed to pick up a new Protein Powder, so I changed it up and got Syntha-6 after a few recommendations. It was actually on a pretty good sale and I got the Mochaccino flavor.. it's pretty delicious. Will definitely try and stick with the Syntha-6 brand and try a few more of their flavors when I use up this tub.

I've been through almost an entire bottle/tub.

It's pretty good so far. I'm glad my local gym sells it for under $30.

Welcome to the club. I got the chocolate milkshake flavor, and it's delicious. I put two scoops in around 8oz of Milk and it tastes like chocolate cake mix. So good!

Just curious, what other supplements are you guys using? Right now for me it's Syntha-6, fish oil, and a multivitamin. Thinking about adding some creatine to the mix while I'm still bulking.
