    Autograph Collection Authentication?

Hey guys, long story short, I'm looking to sell my Autographed cards/etc that I've collected over the years working various venues.

Has anyone ever used the authentication services for their autographs that were obtained in person? Who is the best service?

It's pretty crazy, looking at some of the prices from PSA/DNA and JSA Authentication. But then again, look online at eBay, etc how little some of the seemingly authentic auto's are going for because they don't have a COA.

At times, I think it'd be cool to hang onto all of them, but then again, they sit mainly in a box in the basement, and could definitely use the money that I get for something more entertaining/practical.

Has anyone ever done this? Suggestions on who to go with?

I have no idea.......But if it helps fetch a much higher price, then I think it would be worth getting done.

Yeah, it definitely helps that facet, no doubt. But you have to pay quite a bit to get it done too. Was hoping that someone here would have some similar experience.

From what I've heard it's only really worth it to get it authenticated if it's a big name player. If it's just your average Joe, you aren't going to really make up for the cost of getting it authenticated by a respectable company.

What I would do is take all of the items, or a list of the items you have to a shop that sales this stuff. They might be nice enough to tell you which ones are worth anything.

              Re: Autograph Collection Authentication?

The vast majority of mine are of upper echelon guys, Jordan, Dr. J, Peyton/Eli Manning, etc. I talked to PSA/DNA and a couple more, and they were wanting $100 per card to authenticate

I told them that's ridiculous that they can authenticate a lesser player for $20, but charge 5x the amount, when the same authentication service is used, just based on how much someone can get in return for selling it. That's crap. At this point, I may just list them all on eBay or sell locally.

What a great business model/scam they've got going. Oh, you have pictures/cards you want authenticated, great. Sam Cassell, $20... Oh, Jordan, $100.

And then I read some horror stories about some of the in person autographs coming back not authentic, when they even have videos of them with the athlete signing it
