Re: Update on my baby
When I read this I immediately sent a prayer for you because it made me think about how fortunate my family is with healthy kids. My family could have easily been in your situation or even worse. So stay strong brother, we're pulling for you and your family.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: Update on my baby
Thank you all so much.
In reality, I think it sounds worse than it really is. The odds are in our favor that our baby will arrive healthy. But it's just one of those situations that leaves you in the dark. We won't know anything for five weeks because it has to be monitored via ultrasound at 18 weeks and on. Worst case scenario is that things could get expensive and scary. We'd have to go to the University of Washington if our baby becomes anemic.
I will keep you all posted. We are optimistic and have faith.
Thank you all again!Comment

Re: Update on my baby
This is one of those situations where you also have to wonder if too much medical technology is a good thing or not. Of course I want my baby to get the best care, but it seems that they scare you about everything these days.
Oh, well. Like I said, I'm optimistic. I have to be.Comment

Re: Update on my baby
Good luck with everything fella. My prayers are wit ya!
SpoilerI think your wife and mine are along the same time-line; my wife myte be a couple weeks ahead.
She is diabetic-bad diabetic- so they keep us going in and out of different doctors offices and more sono-grams than she had hoped for! We go just about every week for check-ups. But I feel your pain, or anxiety is probably a better word, when going in and out of the doctors' offices and hospitals and awaiting words.
For me, knowing what I know and knowing our situation, going to the doctor is not quite as much exciting as I think it should be (this is my first). Instead, it's more like "I hope everything is ok."
I mean, I know every father hopes that, but this just seems like it would be different.EXPERIENCE MAYHEM FOOTBALLComment

Re: Update on my baby
I think you nailed it and that's the hard part. With our first, every doctor visit was a blast and full of so much excitement. We had a minor scare with our son but it turned out to be nothing. He is a beautiful, happy, healthy little boy. He'll be 2 in March. But with this one... I am still excited because I do believe that everything will be fine, but this is a serious concern and the waiting game is what gets me the most. It should be exciting and fun, but when someone tells you that something serious could happen to your baby, all sorts of inner turmoil and despair breaks loose. I wish it weren't that way, but it is.Good luck with everything fella. My prayers are wit ya!

Look on the bright side - medical technology these days is amazing. The fact that we are getting our wives and unborn babies the care and attention they need is a blessing in itself. Who knows where we would be without it? I am thankful that. I am thankful that they are aware and educated about the problem.
Stay positive bro, and if you need anything, send me a PM. I will definitely be keeping your wife and baby in my prayers.
One more thing - CONGRATULATIONS! There is nothing better, IMO, than being a dad. It is one of the greatest gifts we can ever be given.Comment
