Amazon: Don't buy item as a gift

So my girl ordered me the new Cyborg M.M.O.7 mouse for my b-day from amazon. I get the package today and find there is no packing slip inside as normal, and once I open the face plate on the cyborg box I notice all 3 taped edges have been cut already. As I look into the mouse i find the cord is frayed and the slide pads are very scratched up.

So I get on the phone with amazon and get the issue worked out and will receive a new mouse Friday. The kicker and thus the reason for writing this is to share with you what almost happen.

If she had sent the item as a "gift" to me it would have been a 3 week turn around before I would have received a gift card for X amount. So its best to just have amazon mail it to you, and hand it to the person, unless its across the map.

This story reminds me of the story of this girl on Youtube who bought a Gaming Edition Hauppage back in September or October. But anyway she gets it and the box was all dinged up, she thought nothing of it, just an outside box right ?

She opens up the inner box, the Hauppage don't have that protective plastic on top of it like it SUPPOSE to have. She notices it is all kinds of finger prints all across the top of it.

She flips it upside down, it is 100s of scratches on all 4 silver rubber feet and looks like somebody spilled paint on the bottom of it too. Turns it to the back, even more scratches back there.

Plugs it up, it isn't even the Gaming Edition Hauppage, it is the old original one with the blue lights instead of the green lights. Needless to say she was very pissed.

And know what the real kicker was ? She ordered it directly off of Hauppage's own website.
