Lump sum, for the reasons most of you guys stated. Can't take that money with you if something unfortunate happens."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Lump sum... I would pay off my student loans, get a new car, help out my family a little and invest the rest.

I figured tonight would be a good night to bring this topic back up.
As far as something like tonight's jackpot, you ABSOLUTELY have to take the lump sum.
The lump sum cash option for tonight is a record $462,000,000 after taxes.Comment

I am just in utter disbelief that tonight any random Joe out there could end up as wealthy as Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder combined. And all off of a $1.00 investment. I've said it many times, but I really love America!Comment

I would never do anything again for the rest of my life. Seriously. No work, no school, nothing. I would just continue my course. Wake up at 3pm, eat, watch sports. Go somewhere if I want to.
Who needs to do anything when you have 460 mil in the bank?
First thing I would do is change which state I live in. I would probably be out of California within an hour after winning.
Too bad it won't happen.Comment

In our pool at work, I think each person gets 17 or 18 million. How much would that be after taxes?Boston Red Sox

Re: Which payment option would you choose if you won the lottery?
Well, if you take the cash option lump sum it comes out to exactly 462 million dollars. Just divide that by the number of the people in your pool and you'll have the number you're looking for.Comment
