Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread

Falling hard for a band. Reading their history from beginning to end. Listening and reading about all their albums. Watching concerts and interviews. It's kind of like falling for a girl, but bands can't rip your heart out.

This past month, I've listened to almost nothing except the Who. I've always liked them, but I really started listening and reading about their albums and loved the idea behind them. What could have been with Lifehouse. I never heard of it before last week. The idea and thrown together playlists sound amazing. The songs now make more sense than they did on Who's Next. After listening to Quadrophenia, I went to bed and actually wished that I was Pete Townshend.

The longest time I spent on a band was for four years, starting in 8th grade, with Pink Floyd. The second longest would be right afterwords with The Beatles for another 3+ years. Had a couple of months with Led Zeppelin this past year. Listening to full albums helps the most with this.

Great post. I do a similar thing with my favorite bands. Most recently for me REM and Dire Straits, as well as completing my Yes collection.

I might suggest digging into Yes, and also Rush as well. There's a lot you can uncover there.

Driving the highway to work, it's all grey clouds and gloom. Take my right exit and suddenly, there's a blue sky and sunshine. I literally cracked a smile.

When you've got really, really smelly gas and you're in bed going to sleep... Then you let one rip and culminate under the sheets for a minute or two before lifting the sheet up and letting the stench fill your nostrils. Your own smell is always so relaxing and soothing.

It's especially funny when there's someone else in bed with you trying to get to sleep as well.
