It depends on where you are in Virginia.

Are you within ~30 miles of DC? You're in a northern state.

Are you south of that? You're in a southern state.

You'd get what I mean if you lived here.

I live in Hampton Roads, so I guess that means Southern.

No...anything South of the Mason-Dixon line can't be considered the North anything.

Umm, Virginia isn't part of the mid-atlantic.

Well, It's North East of somewhere

I thought the original argument was about PA, NY, etc ? I would consider those a part of the North East. Virginia, I'm a little un decided. I just don't really consider Virginia to be The North.

The real northeast is NEW ENGLAND. I will allow New York in because I feel sorry for them. But anything south of New York I don't consider the northeast.

New York is still considered the Northeast whether you feel sorry for them or not, my man.

NY is definitely Northeast. I think it gets a little hairy when you hit PA and NJ. PA is so big, it's practically midwest when you hit western PA, but also northeastern to the north and... haha... east.

I'm just glad someone recognized DE in this thread. Thank you, Matrix.

I'd consider DE mid-atlantic. North DE is like southern PA (REALLY?!) but slower, lower DE is like... the gateway to the south. At least in my small state mind. lol
