What is the point of being destructive?
What gets these people off, that walking through a neighborhood, you see a random bike locked to a pole, that you feel the need to slash a tire. The thing is, this almost killed me today. I am riding home from work, going over the bridge to cross the schyulkill river I am half way across the bridge and my rear tire suddenly goes flat. Bike swerves and I bail off the bike and catch myself on the guardrail. If I fly off to the left I am in traffic. If I go any higher I am going over the guard rail and into the freakin river, in a fall that I likely wouldn't survive anyway. I pick my bike back up and check to see if I ran over any glass which I didn't think I did, and then I see it. A slice in the side of the tire. If I ran over a loose piece of glass, the hole would have been on the bottom in the treads, and small. Someone sliced a half inch long gash on the side through the tire and must have not gotten the intertube all the way. Someones random destructiveness almost killed me today. I am beginning to feel that people in general are scum, and good honest people are the rarity. What is the point of slicing a tire to someones's bike.Tags: None -

Yeah, I agree man. It's just a blunt fact of life. There are just people who do not care about their own property, and especially don't care about others. It is frustrating, but it's a sad fact of life. Luckily you are okay and not a victim of someones stupidity.
As far as what makes people do this - No idea.
Mommy didn't hold them enough?I post the frog
It makes me happy
People get upset
It makes me sad

People are people and some people get off on the weirdest things. So how far did you have to walk your bike back home ?Comment

Re: What is the point of being destructive?
Wow, that totally sucks, dude. I'm glad you are okay, but still, that was really ****ed up that someone would just randomly do that seemingly just for kicks. Was your bike parked in a place where you usually park it? If so, do you think there is even a slight possibility that someone you don't get along with could have done it?Comment

Yeah phobia, My luck has been in the crapper. I am trying to look at the bright side. I lost 15 lbs from all the bike riding. I am down to 205 when I was up to 220. But man, I feel tested.Comment

Re: What is the point of being destructive?
People just do stupid stuff. I remember riding the bus home one day, and everyone was pelting cars with honey mustard saucers, that they saved from the cafeteria. Sadly, I was right there with them, (yea, I did some things in HS I ain't proud of) Then one kid was like watch this! Throws a freaking security lock
Like This
and nails a nice *** convertible in the windshield. The guy got out and told the bus driver, but it was impossible to figure out who did it, and no one would tell. To this day I always stay clear of school buses on the road lol I know how stupid kids are.
The guy was probably just bored and slashed your tire for the hell of it, that's how some people sadly think.Comment

Re: What is the point of being destructive?
I am around destructive people for eight hours a day, five days per week. I don't know why people do what they do. Sometimes they're high, drunk, strung out, dealing with mental illness... But then, the excuses stop and the realization occurs - there are just some messed up people in this world who do not have the ability to cognitively recognize what their actions will mean for another person. There's a lot of sociopaths in the world who just don't care. It was like that a thousand years ago, and it will be like that a thousand years from now. It's just the way it is, unfortunately.
I am glad that you're OK and avoided disaster at the hands of a pathetic individual(s).Comment

Re: What is the point of being destructive?
To be blunt there really is no point. Who the heck knows why people do what they do? There could be a million factors that could be the reason.
Glad you're ok though."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: What is the point of being destructive?
Why do people do that? To allieviate boredom. I'm sure everyone has did something stupidly destructive as a child. I use to throw rocks at passing cars to see if I hit one of them (Never did hit one). I also threw rocks into the street to see if a car would run over one and blow out a tire (Several cars ran over the rocks, but the tires were always fine). I played football in other people's yards. Me and my friends had a short lived idea of playing baseball...until one of us busted a window and then it was every man for himself. We played ding dong ditch on an old lady's house. We used to tease the resident scary *** dog by putting our fingers through the fence and pulling it back at the last second before he could bite them.
Do I still do any of these things? No, because I now play games and use the internet to pass the time. When the only thing you can do as a kid (at 10-12 years old) is go outside and play or watch tv....you're gonna eventually do something dumb.Comment
