    Yard Sales/Garage Sales

Our neighborhood community yard sale/garage sale is today, they have one annually for around 100 families...

As I sit here, people browsing through the things my wife & I have sat out, it really makes you wonder "Why" some people buy the things they buy. Makes me thing that they're prepping for a yard sale in 3 years when they realize they don't need the useless junk that they bought from my sale, lol.

And the phone conversations that you hear are priceless.

Anyone else's community have one of these? Fun times.

I have been to a few.

I recently bought a baseball, two Wilson gloves, and a Nike batting bag for $5.00. This lady was divorcing her husband and he left all of his crap, when he moved to another state.

      Wow, what a deal.

It's funny watching these people drive 50mph through the subdivision, almost like they're embarrassed, only to see them slam on the breaks if they see something they want.

Someone tried to haggle me on a $2 pair of boots. TWO Freakin dollar boots... I just shook my head at him and gave them to him. If he wants to haggle on a $2 pair of boots (just wanted them out of the way), he needs them worse than I do.

I dread when my mom ask me to help her with a garage sale. What's worse then haggling on $2 is catching people switch a $1 tag with a $0.50 tag.

I sale all of my personal stuff on facebook. There are many groups in my area with thousands of members so it's pretty easy to sell individual items. Really well run with about 10 admins that keep things flowing smoothly.

The women around here have come up with a decent idea for Facebook. They started a group called "The Walker County yardsale". People post what they're looking for or trying to sell and negotiate the terms. It's pretty cool, actually...

I've used it to get rid of a sub box, subs, and amp.

LOL. Some of my fondest memories are my mother and I going from yard sale to yard sale Saturday mornings. I'd have a new shirt or new shoes on, and no matter where they were bought, via dept. store or whatever, whenever someone asked me where I got this or that, I always told them "the yard sale". Embarassed the crap outta her sometimes.

If there's anything I learned from yard sales, is no matter what it is, somebody wants it.

And a tip, if someone is haggling for $2 boots, you don't budge son. What's the matter with you. And you GAVE them away?!?!? Smdh.

In this day and age (especially in the spring and summer) you have to be VERY careful buying second-hand stuff. Especially any type of furniture or things of that nature. My brother is an exterminator and all of the horror stories he has told me about people getting bedbugs has to do with either purchasing second-hand furniture or international travel.

                I LOVE yard sales.
Just bought (a couple weeks ago) a Tour Taylor Made Burner Driver.. excellent condition for 30.00...
Lady was selling it for here son in law.
You never know what you'll find. We've made some good $ getting rid of a lot of our stuff also. In fact we made enough in yard sales to pay for our 2 rooms when we go to NY this year.

There's one every year a few towns over from me that is 50 miles long. We attempted to go a couple of years ago but the traffic was unreal.

We are having a community garage sale tomorrow. Oh joy.

Might go around and buy some stuff and try to flip it online.
