    The Official Yard thread

If your so lucky to have a yard what current projects do you currently have going on?

I am working on a kick *** garden (manly I know) which is a pain to do in West Texas.

I found a big patch of watermelons growing in my back yard a couple of day's ago. Don't know where they come from but I'm taking care of them watering and fertilizing, might as well try and get something out of it. I have a few trees and shrubs I plan on cutting down but don't expect to do that until the fall when it's cooler, I don't want to reach my hand into some undergrowth and grab a hold of a water moccasin.

I have 2 fruit trees that are diseased that need to be chopped down. We also have two vegetable boxes in the backyard that I'm taking out. I have to dig it all out and lay fresh sods down. I'm eventually putting in a horseshoe pit and a fire pit in the yard.

I planted 3 4ft Maple Tree's yesterday and 3 shrubs around a sitting wall outside of our patio.

My biggest project is putting up a 200ft privacy hedge/shrub line along the side and part of the back of my house. The other part of the back has tree's so I'm just going to put the privacy hedge/shrub line right up against it. I've done the math and that's 65 hedges about 2ft apart. That's a lot of digging/planting so I'm thinking about hiring someone.

My wife wants to put in an electric fence for our Golden Retriever. So that might happen this year as well.

Grass is an ugly brown due to the lack of rain in the area so I've been trying to water as much as possible. Seems to be futile.

Replacing a liner in a pond about 10x20. Thinking about making it bigger but the digging is pretty tough. Doing things around the yard has to be one of my favorite things.. Taking the ipod out and cutting grass for 4 hours is something I look forward to every week.

I am also thinking about putting in a par 3-4 hole in my yard, a couple of buddies of mine are planning it out with me seems doable just the grass is pretty much hay cut down so it might be "rough" everywhere. We were thinking 2-3 different drive boxes to make it kinda different each time.. Man having a brew after work on my own mini course sounds pretty sweet.

I'm working on actually being able to call it a yard. Trying to get rid of the "buildings" the ants have built there (2-BR apartment for $900/month). Also, lots of weeds to get rid of. I'm just a rookie (never lived in a house before), so I'm trying to figure things out. And don't get me started with the back yard...

With the inside of my shed which is completely waterproof I was going to install drywall but it was suggest by a friend to use T-11 siding inside which is great for hanging tools up and adding shelves.

                Anyone dealt with T-11 siding?

Other than mowing, I pretty much hate doing anything with my yard. With that said, I did weed and re-mulch a few weeks ago, as well as did some trimming.

I had to hire a gardener because I totally suck at yard stuff. My front and backyard looked like post apocalyptic wastelands.

That sounds awesome. I'm guessing you have a lot of land to do this. How far do you think the hole will be?

It's about 275 yards, and if I started clearing some light brush out I could probably push it to 300.. But it all depends on where the tee's are going to be so one tee might be 275 another might be 300-320.

That is awesome man. Definitely show us some pictures when that is complete.

All I can fit in my yard is probably a 9 hole putt putt course. And let's just say I won't even ask my wife cause I know her answer.
