TapouT XT



This workout looks phenomenal. I just started it today and I'm exhausted.

Immediately I can tell the difference between P90X and Insanity. Here's my breakdown:

P90X is about size. This is not the workout you do when you want to lose weight... this is more about slimming down while bulking up.

Insanity is about slimming. Yes, you will get tone but this workout is great to just shed fat and tighten up a bit.

TapouT XT - I guess we will see. Hopefully I can stick with it and not get sidetracked with life's daily surprises. It seems to be more about tonight and definition than any of the others. It seems to workout muscles I didn't focus on in the other two, oddly enough.

Anyone else going to give this a shot?

Man, everytime I watch this commercial it gets me excited. But I have been super guilty of trying them - most recently p90x. I just couldn't stand p90x's super long work outs.

Is TapOut this same way in regards to length of time?

Not sure but so far, the first day was 45 mins and tomorrow is about 54 mins.

It really keeps moving though. I feel like Insanity was less in duration but more intense during those short intervals. This feels like I'm working more because most of the exercises are really new (at least to me). Lots of MMA stuff in it, like knee strikes and Muay Thai poses.

The infomercial annoys me. The host constantly yelling "come and get it" in a wuss voice, lol

Pared - how much room space is needed? By the infomercial it looks like quite a bit, and not just my tiny living room.

You need a good amount of space. You're on the floor a lot.

Think of the side pushups where you move left to right. You need that amount of space.

Welp, it's official - I absolutely hate this. I'm sore in muscles I don't recall being sore in with the other two.

I've had trouble sleeping because of the pain! Pretty crazy... this work out goes hard.

Glad to see guys getting after it on this board! Me personally, I just can't motivate myself to workout in my living room, but then again, I'm married to a gym owner so I don't have to. Keep up the good work!

You gonna post some before and after shots like the commercials love to do?

Well I'll be 5 days in and didn't take any before shots. Plus I don't think OS wants me showing my manhood everywhere.

I was gonna start a hybrid workout with p90x and Insanity but I guess I'll do this instead. I looked at the video and it uses resistance bands. I still have some bands but can those exercises be done with dumbbells instead? I have a pretty nice set of adjustable ones I bought a few months ago.

Also what's the nutrition guide like? Do they want you drinking protein or any recovery drink? I have nearly a full container of Mike's Mix I was using as a post workout drink.

To be honest I don't even read nutrition information. Never have. I simply watch what I eat, drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep and make sure I take a Protein shake right after a workout. This routine has worked well but I'm sure if I were a stickler for the nutrition routines it would help. They look like they would get expensive though.

As far as the bands, you can certainly use weights for about 90% of the exercises. There are a few that require you have the resistance between your arms and feet because they seem to focus on the body's core just as much as the arms.

After one week, I'm about ready to get started again. Feel great but man was that first week tough.

I've got it but just started P90 again. I'll start XT when I'm done. I did use Tapout's version of yoga (P90's took forever) and I got a better burn/sweat with XT. I also switched P90's kenpo and used XT's Muay Thai and got a better workout with that as well. I can't wait to start the whole program.
