    Don'cha just love dogmatic "journalists"

It's articles like these that just make me want to go across the country and smack every journalism prof I find ...and then take a side tour and smack every journalist who presents his little agenda. This is a beauty:

    http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/blog/...+grizzly+bear/

So we have this really cool picture of a grizzly that photographer DOUG Smith captured at an angle and a moment that maybe, just maybe, would give people a newfound perspective and respect for bears. But, oh no, DAVE Smith of 'examiner.com' will have none of that. DAVE's Examiner story points out:
Yellowstone National Park should fine and reprimand wolf biologist DOUG Smith for harassing a grizzly from a plane in order to get a photograph. In addition, Smith demonized grizzlies by making an absurd comment about the grizzly bear having "him in mind for his next meal."

It's always fun when these guys humanize animals and believe they respond to actual human beings behavior as if they themselves were human. You see, Mr. Smith, bears don't understand what being "demonized" means, because, and I quote Norm MacDonald from 'Sports Show', "he's a ****ing bear!"

Interestingly DAVE Smith, who apparently seems to have some inner fantasy of wanting to be Father Nature, well, maybe Uncle Nature, to all bears wrote a book "Don't Get Eaten".

I'll lay 7:2 odds as to how this guy eventually meets his demise.

I've read much worse op-ed pieces than that.

It shouldn't be hard for you to find them. The Internet and papers are riddled with them.

I'm not sure what your point is with this anyway. Scratch that, I know what your point is, but this is quite the humorous stretch. This is a blog post on an outdoors blog about BEARS by an old BEAR NUT. The guy isn't purporting to be a journalist. He writes for a damn outdoors blog and has written two books about - YOU GUESSED IT - BEARS! Pardon my French, but who gives a ****?

I don't agree with what he's saying, but instead of ranting about journalists and journalism professors, I took the sane route and didn't care.

That article was a lot easier to read than trying to watch any of cable's "news" coverage.

Tim: My only "problem" with it is that news media in general gives way too much air-time and factual respect to all these different "experts" who often appear to be mentally unstable by what they're allowed to say on air.

Or 15 segments on cable news on some garbage story that has nothing to do with anything. Anything for ratings I guess.

I completely agree with you. I encourage everyone who reads or sees anything to research who is saying it, why, and consider the source.

I don't know how long those sources will last. I've noticed a lot of discrediting of fact-checking organizations and an obvious sense of nobody taking anything at face value lately.

I think it speaks volumes when a comedy-based 30 minutes news show anchor is considered the most trusted mainstream news source.

I wish we could really dive into this conversation but its impossible with politics so yeah, news media is in need of a major overhaul somehow.

Not sure if this counts, but it made me shake my head.

The lead in the for the local news tonight was "Vice principle in trouble for spanking teenage girls".

When in reality it's a story about a girl whose mom gave permission for corporal punishment and are now mad it was a male that did it. Going for that fat check from the district.

On the topic of bad journalism...I can't stand TMZ and other gossip columinst that call themselves journalist. Writing your main points in all caps doesn't make your column that much better!

PBS and NPR certainly have their slants. But my understanding is that if one wants less biased viewpoints...... listen to the Brits (sort of ironic since those 1700's, eh?)

Either the school or district had a rule that the paddling must be done by an administrator of the same sex as the student.

It is kind of strange to have an adult male paddle a 17 year old girl.

It was their choice. Either 2 days of in school suspension or swats.
