    Prescription sunglasses

Does anyone know of a place that does prescription sunglasses?

I have an eye doctor I go to, but all of the frames were ridiculously priced. It was going to be over $100+ for just the frames, not even including the lenses. I figured there would be a place online that could just take your eye measurement numbers and do them for a lot less.

I got my glasses from Target optical. They took my vision insurance, which covered a bit, and I used a deal Target had to get prescription sunglasses as well.

You should be able to find a bargain place somewhere...I'd look at somewhere like Lenscrafters (or another place in a strip mall) over the people at the eye doctor...the doctor's optician tends to charge a bit more and not have deals.

I've bought glasses over the internet, coastal I think it was runs free glasses deals all the time and I went ahead and jumped, paid $6 and they are every bit as good as the glasses I paid $500 for at lenscrafters (frames aren't as good, but still really nice, but the lenses blow the lenscrafters lenses away). The only problem was fitting them, but a couple of days I got the fit right by making minor adjustments.

Almost any major eye center should do them.. I use Lenscrafters. You're right though, insurance policies rarely cover them.

I have a pair of Oakley prescription sunglasses, but I rarely wear them any more. I usually have contacts in, so just wear normal sunglasses.

I already used my insurance for new glasses this year so it's all coming out of pocket anyways. I gave up contacts because I got tired of messing with them. I am usually good seeing wise when I am at the lake or something where sunglasses are needed. Want to have the option to be able to actually see as good as I can though.

I got to complete eyecare centers.

You have different tiers of frames to choose from and can usually find a 2 for deal well under what the doctor is probably charging you

The lake and outdoors is what pushed me towards contacts. I can't see very well without them and it was hard to wakeboard and stuff.

I used contacts for that reason (sports and whatnot), but they just started bugging my eyes too much so I stopped...I'm fine with glasses and prescription sunglasses now. I just have to carry the others with me, but it usually fits into my pocket pretty well
