Personal business cards
What are your thoughts on having a personal business card, despite being unemployed/working small part time jobs? My wife and I were talking about this with some friends, and I was curious to get some more opinions. Currently, I'm a bartender at a small restaurant with no degree, but several years of military experience. Since I got out, I've had a hard time finding a real job (bartending is fun, but hardly pays the bills). I go to a lot of networking meetings, but a lot of those are dinners, where I feel it's inappropriate to carry several copies of my resume in a portfolio. Someone recommended getting personal business cards with my contact info, and instead of twenty resumes, carry twenty cards.

Re: Personal business cards
If you're in a networking setting, I say go for it. If you're in a conversation with someone, and it turns towards a possible opportunity you're going to be exchanging info anyway. This actually sounds like a great idea. If you were giving that card to me, it would give me the impression that you're organized and serious about new opportunities.
