He didn't act in self-defense. He acted in retaliation. He's on the job and she's out of control. He's a bus driver. Radio for a cop on the beat and let him handle it. She didn't brandish a weapon... she just has a big mouth. Now he's without a job and most likely facing criminal and/or civil charges.

    Not worth it.

He called the cops before the incident and they didn't come before she decided to get physical

I hate that men shouldn't hit women crap. Why?!?

How about you don't hit anyone?

So what it this was a 120 pound 5'3" male who did the same, then it's okay in your eyes? He's just as weak.

I'm against laying hands on a female. However, when a "lady" puts her hands on a man, then I'm all about equal opportunity.

I think that well placed uppercut was probably the best thing to happen to her. I guarantee that she'll think twice about doing something like that again.

He called the cops an they didn't get there before she assaulted him so he acted in self defense an put that hood rat down.

I give her points for bouncing back up tho

There's a huge thing going on here in NY for transit workers as they're striking because lack of benefits and protection from the MTA. Bus drivers here have been assaulted, stabbed with needles, punched, etc. they are even installing protective glass/barricades around the bus driver's seats on buses here because violence against the drivers has gotten so bad. Also, in NY it is automatic jail time for assaulting a transit worker. Why do you think he said what he said when she hit him?

Damn right he retaliated. That man knows his route like the back of his hand from working with that company over 20 years. He knows the riff raff and the neighborhood he's covering.

Who is to say this girl didn't have multiple weapons on her?

I saw a video about a year ago I think it was in Philly where this girl got into it with some guy on a bus (not the driver). She called ahead to her "friends". When they got to a certain stop..her "friends" showed up outside and shot the bus up with AK-47s.

I commend 59 year old Artis for putting the beats on this person (man or woman). Sometimes you have to let a person's teeth click so they know they can't get away with certain things.

A lady ceases to be a lady when she decides she wants to fight and throws the first blow. Then she's a man.

                  Simple as that.

Don't wanna be punched? Don't lay your hands on someone. Simple.

Want to be considered a female? Act like one. Simple.

Don't act like a man then claim to be a female once someone enlightens you otherwise. Double Standards cease to exist once you cross a certain line.

That dumb **** nowadays needs to stop.

Yeah Im all about not hitting women but that only counts if the woman isnt being an animal or savage. Then all bets are off. What is he gonna sit there and get his *** beat until a cop comes by or she runs away? What if Artis was smaller than the woman? Would you still say he shouldnt fight back. Oh please with this happy go lucky mommy told me not to hit a girl ****. Guess what you learned that when you were 5 years old. Many, MANY Women arent innocent little girls when they grow up; believe that. This one got taught a valuable lesson. The driver being fired is just a sad commentary on our society today.

I wouldn't agree with that. He deserved to lose his job with the way he went after her with a killshot. If he had just tackled her, he would probably still have his job. But looking at this video, there's really nothing the city could do but fire him. IMO he left with his dignity after being spit on - which is lower on the totem pole than hitting a woman. I'm not going to sit here and say I would have just restrained her.

I am surprised by the amount of people that are saying it is OK that he hit her since she started it.

I don't care what she did, as a dude, you don't hit a girl no matter what. thats what i was taught, and that is what I would teach my son. If that guy was a kid of mine, I would be utterly disgraced and disappointed.

That Uppercut was still fantastic though.

I really hope that both of y'all realize that if someone wasn't getting off that bus, it would have been moving. No one is saying the uppercut was necessary, but just trying to restrain her would not have worked (and most likely would have made it worse because people would have been like "he put his hands on her first")

If that was my sister (which wouldn't happen because my sister knows better and isn't catching the bus), yes I would have wanted the dude's head, but I would get on her head for starting it.

Watch the (not 100% down the middle) news package with the girl. She said she learned her lesson.

If she gets any money out of this, or if he gets any punishment outside of losing his job, it will be a terrible injustice.
