Just passed my PAT for the SDPD, hoping to hear back from them to continue on with the hiring process.

I've looked a little into Full Sail's bachelors in game development program [size="1"](I'm in Miami school is near Orlando)[\size] but I don't know if something less specific in computer science would be more useful when it comes time to look for a job.

Sometimes it's hard to balance dream job with providing for your family. I want to work on something I have a passion for, money really isn't that important to me. I don't need a luxurious lifestyle, just want to provide a stable lifestyle for the wife and new baby.
.NET is very big right now. C# or VB.Net. Java is good to know as well and being good at SQL is a real plus. Once you hit 5 years experience you are usually considered a Senior Developer and that's where the big bucks are. I've seen places pay around 85K to 100K in Iowa for that level of .NET experience.

I've been doing Work Study back at the campus but it's only like 10-12 hours a week.. but I did land a Best Buy job today. Unfortunately, it's temp-to-hire (which during all the conversations with the hiring manager and my first interview, this was never mentioned). They said they'll do a review at the end of it and hire those who did well, so I just have to do my best.

I'm finally out of this club... Got a full time job working second shift in a warehouse. It's only seasonal, but it should help for the next couple months.

Not really part of the unemployment club, but six months past college graduation and I'm still working at the gas station I worked at all through college. Got passed up for a promotion there to management because my boss assumed I would leave first chance I get. Which is probably true, but still hate that there is someone above me who I outwork.

Applied at different athletic departments for video operations (not enough experience, not enough experience in big-time athletics, we promoted from within, etc.). Applied at tv stations (not enough experience or taking a pay cut or its only part-time).

Starting to think my communications degree was a waste of money. LOL

I originally was a Mass Communications major. What I found was, jobs that I wanted (in athletics) were hard to come by, and didn't pay well. So I switched majors.

Was unemployed for about 2 months, just finished up a semester in college, and got hired today by a college recruiting service. 21 years old, and gonna be doing what I've spent hours in NCAA games doing, and getting paid to do it!

                  Bumped for new member.

Sucks man, hopefully it's only temporary. Luckily I set aside some extra cash, knowing this was probably going to happen.

Back in the club as well. Putting my pursuit of a college baseball coaching career on hold until I can get more stable financially. Currently looking to move back to Denver with my fiancee and hopefully find something full-time and coach on the side as a volunteer or at the high school level so I'm not completely away from the game.

I just started a new job on Monday at a place called Adelphoi Village. It's a large company in Pennsylvania that was created to help kids who were going down the wrong path, foster kids, kids who were felons etc. It's a pretty nice job, good benefits. I work directly with kids between 16-20 in an independent living facility that, if they're good and don't get kicked out, once they save up $3,000 they can go find a place to live on their own.

I don't think I'll be here for long. My current employer is aware of everything, but I have vacation for 2 weeks to be able to afford this route right now. I truly just can't be here anymore - it's a daily challenge of my ethical value. Looking forward to making finding a career as a FT job.
