Boy, 14, robbed outside Arundel Mills after Black Friday shopping trip

A group of five men robbed a 14-year-old boy of his shopping bag outside Arundel Mills mall after he walked out of a Bed Bath & Beyond store about 2 a.m. Friday, Anne Arundel County Police said.

The victim told police the men accosted him on the sidewalk just outside the store, one of them punched him and another stole a bag containing merchandise he had just purchased. The suspects, who the boy described as black men aged 17 to 21 wearing black North Face jackets and jeans, ran away toward the mall's Bass Pro Shops entrance.

Police searched the area but could not find the suspects.

The boy's parents were contacted and he declined medical treatment for a minor injury at the scene.

Arundel Mills opened at midnight Friday for shoppers seeking holiday discounts.

A security guard rolled through Arundel Mills mall at a pace a little faster than a stroll Friday morning, his Segway patrol crossing in front of the Bed Bath & Beyond where police said the robbery occurred.

"There is no sale that is worth standing in line in the middle of the night. My kids don't need anything that badly," said Melody Creswell of Severna Park. Instead, she started her day at 6 a.m.

While hundreds of parking spots were open at the Maryland Live casino, shoppers flocked to spots in front of big box stores. Drivers navigated slowly through parking lanes, stalking shoppers at they headed to their cars in search of free spaces.

I wish it were that easy. I went to Wal-Mart after 8, got in there at 8:45 and the two games I was originally looking for were gone.

Went to another Wal-Mart a few hours later and wound up getting them.

Witnesses tell us two couples were arguing and one of the men stared firing, He then took off in his car. Witnesses tell us it happened on the sidewalk right in front of the store.

Better yet, why did his Parents let him go in by himself?

Not surprised somebody got robbed up there though. That Mall is right around the corner from my Parents House and there's always at least 3-4 robberies there on Black Friday each year.

                Re: Black Friday Fisticuffs

The Walmart I went to was crazy, mostly because their "planning" went to **** in the electronics department. They kept telling people to go to different areas to get games (the case or the register), so when one guy brings his up there to pay, he ends up getting nothing.

My cousin waited over by the case till they got our game out, while I went and looked for the Xbox 360s. There were no clear directions for the Xbox 360s, turns out they were in the deli .

I was actually near the register looking for the 360s at first, but left after I saw none by the counter. I left just in time to miss some guy get his eye swollen shut when he tried to cut in line. It was filmed apparently according to my cousin. He also said that same guy tried to cut all of the people waiting by the case too just yelling "GAME! I WANT GAME!" and pushing people. Not surprising he got dropped.

There were people standing in line in front of the deli for something, but I have no clue what it was since we just walked up to the front and asked about the 360. They just handed it to us and we left.

The last two times I'd been there, it was much more orderly.

I've said it before, Black Friday is a day that really shows where people's priorities are. There is no reason to act like a blood sucking vulture because a TV is on sale and there are towels on sale for $0.99. Destroying displays, trampling over people, pushing and shoving, arguing over who was there first....all of that crap is just uncalled for.

Black Friday shoppers smash door at Urban Outfitters

Shoppers surged into an Urban Outfitters store on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica after midnight Friday and smashed a tall glass door, injuring about five people, authorities said.

Paramedics treated a few shoppers for minor cuts but no one was transported to the hospital by ambulance, said Sgt. Marty Fine of the Santa Monica Police Department.

"It was just too many people, too fast," Fine said.

                        PHOTOS: The Black Friday rush

Around midnight, at least 100 people had lined up for Urban Outfitters' Black Friday deals, which offered up to 50% off on some items. When the 12-foot all-glass double doors opened, the crowd pushed toward the doors and broke the left one.

Police officers were assigned to the general area but the store did not have its own security, Fine said.

An Urban Outfitters store manager declined to comment.

The store, which, ironically, features a stylized broken glass look to either side of the doors, was closed for a few minutes as injuries were treated and glass shards were swept away.

At 9 a.m. Friday, the store was reopened and bustling with activity.

Couple hit by suspected drunk driver at Black Friday sale

A man suspected of driving drunk to get a Black Friday deal at Wal-Mart hit two people who also were going for Black Friday deals, investigators said.

The driver, a 71-year-old man, was arrested for vehicular assault after deputies said he pinned a 45-year-old woman under his Mercury SUV. She was flown to Harborview Medical Center, the region’s trauma center. A man in his 40s who was with her also was rushed to Harborview.

“The man rolled up onto the hood an onto the ground,” Sgt. Cindi West said at the Covington Wal-Mart, which is about 25 miles south of downtown Seattle.

The victims were walking near the entrance when they were struck, and several people waiting to get inside witnessed the collision.

“A lot of people came to their aid,” West said. “Two deputies who were working off duty in the area came over and helped.”

West said the incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. at 17432 S.E. 270th Pl. The store, which normally stays open 24 hours, kept its regular hours on Thanksgiving, but employees were metering the number of people allowed inside to avoid being over capacity.

Investigators initially said the victims was married, but later clarified that they are not. A Wal-Mart spokeswoman told reporters at the scene that safety is the company’s priority.

Through Jan. 1, additional DUI patrols are on King County roads, funded by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. Earlier this year, the state Senate joined the House in passing House Bill 2216, which increases the standard prison sentence for the crime of vehicular homicide by DUI.

West said the Thursday incident is a reminder for people enjoying holiday festivities that they shouldn’t get behind the wheel, “because we are going to be looking for those drunk drivers this time of year.”

I had a lady wanting to buy a car that's on the other dealership's lot, back near Hoover. I told her we would get it for her tomorrow. The traffic in the Hoover area around the Riverchase Galleria is just insane around Black Friday. It's not worth it for me to drive through it more than I all ready have to.

                              SMH

Authorities believe a disagreement over a parking space led to two people being shot and wounded outside a Walmart in Tallahassee, Fla.

Police say officers responded to the shooting shortly after noon on Black Friday, one of the busiest shopping days of the year. A man and a woman — discovered at the store's outdoor garden center — were taken to a nearby hospital with wounds that were not considered life-threatening. They were expected to make a full recovery.

No arrests were immediately made, but police were searching for a dark green Toyota Camry in connection with the case.
