I think this is a good place to introduce myself, I've enjoyed this site for a couple months now.
My name is Aaron, Aaron Blue. I'm 17 and gotta say nothing describes a new chapter is someone's life than your senior year of high school. To me it's been a purgatory year, where you accomplish nothing and just wonder about the future.

I've always planned to go off to college and study computer science. Lately however, I have considered pursuing a career as a coach, likely in basketball. Part of this thinking has come from being on OS. It's a hard thing to get started in when you don't play anymore. My hope is to go off to UCF(still waiting for a reply)next year and be a manager for the basketball team and go from there. It's something hard to get involved in and I find myself wanting to change my mind and not have to face the path if it doesn't work out. But it's true life is too short, and I feel like I still have a good while ahead to enjoy my time here, so I try to stick to that thinking and not one day wish I tried and failed, than to never try at all. That's what I hope is ahead of me, but I'm stuck here waiting.

Anyway I really enjoy some of the things I've gotten to do here and really enjoy talking to some of you guys. I have a lot of time on my hands and plenty of room on my friends list. If you want a pickup game on 2k or NCAA, or just an extra guy for some Black ops I'm likely available.

      @ Blue:

There will always be an opportunity for computer science jobs. Get your degree in that, but also dedicate just as much time to pursuing your basketball coaching desires.

If you get your degree in computer science, you could still do the basketball manager thing, and who knows... maybe get a teacher's license, using your cpu science degree teach a subject such as math, work w/ the school basketball coach, and work your way into an assistant coach job, do good enough, get recognized by another school, be hired as a head coach, take your team to some state titles or have success, get recognized/hired by a college team and now you've made it!

You have got to have a plan. A dream is just a dream w/o a plan.

You always need to have something to fall back on too. Therefore getting your degree is most important.

I still intend to major in CS, that is definitely a great degree to get so I don't plan on changing from it... Coaching is still pretty new in my plans so I still have not fully thought it out.

Among other strange symptoms, my right leg goes numb, my entire rib cage feels like a knife is between the ribs, I been getting double vision couple times a day, my heart has been doing this vibrating thing, I have a head ache 24/7, I get these random shooting pains anywhere on my body at random times, and lastly NO test has found anything.

That is why this MRI and maybe spinal tap is critical this Monday. I just wanna know what is wrong and how it suddenly just appeared out the blue.

I personally think it appears very similar to MS but I'm no doctor.

Thanks John, I hope it continues to turn out for the best.
Sounds like a lot of the symptoms of Lyme disease. Its very difficult to detect, as most of the tests available can return the incorrect results. I know this first-hand as my father has been suffering from it for a few years. It took quite a while to find out he had it, which has required an even longer time to recover from.

Might be something to suggest to your doctor.

All the best, Derek. Coming here and revealing your symptoms may even lead to a quicker diagnosis. About 2 years ago my girlfriend was getting vertigo symptoms, they gave her meds and had to rule out other possibilities meanwhile she couldn't work and was basically bedridden. I posted here and I believe it was actually FlyingFinn who said he had vertigo and just needed his doc to shake his head up (literally... There are crystals in your ear that can upset your balance and throw ya off... Nuts).

Sure enough, a neurologist did that exact "procedure" to her, and she was fine.

OS is an amazing tool. It's done so much for so many of us.

By the way, I'm Dylan, 22, engaged, just got my own place, love sports, music, food, work two jobs, wanna get back into school for cyber security next fall. Got big dreams and am finally feeling good about what I'm doing to make them come true. I come here to shoot the breeze in between the 13 hour shifts I work two or three days a week and the shorter shifts another two or three days a week. Never worked harder but never felt better, either. I feel as if if you put in the work and be the best person you can be every day, fortune will eventually smile upon you. I truly believe that and try to live it every day.

Thanks Todd, I'll check into it and see what the symptoms sound like. I have been through 2 blood panels, a CT scan, ultra sound, and a endoscopy. Good thing is nothing jumps out as being wrong. Bad thing is I'm going mentally nuts because I'm not just making up the pain and symptoms, yet everything is coming back as if I should have no symptoms. One thing I do know with out a shadow of a doubt, I went 30 years never feeling this way. Then I developed hyponatremia and everything from that moment forward has been like my body is shutting down. It is miserable dealing with the constant pains and what not, but honestly the worst part of it all is the mental toll it takes from not knowing what it could be.

Same thing happened with my dad. He went a few years not knowing what was wrong with him. Went to so many specialists and tried so many different tests it would make your head spin.

I'm not saying it is Lyme disease, but its definitely something to consider. The worst part about it though is that its really hard to detect. Many doctors don't even think its an option in their diagnosis and like I said, the test results can be wrong most of the time.

One day, you wake up, its 10 years down the road and you wondered what happened. You missed the starters gun and life passed you by. Too old to start anew and too young to be stuck in the same spot. Take a chance while you still have a choice.

Re: New chapter in my life

I'm not saying this to knock anyone's suggestions or anything, but please be aware that it is common for symptoms to be linked to many different possibilities. I am a nursing student but have worked in many areas of the field. In the emergency room, one lady came in because she had a regular stomachache but looked it up online and asked her friends and she was so worried that it was actually a colon cancer. So in her head, she had colon cancer which you would be surprised what kind of effects it would have on the body. The more you believe you're in pain, the more likely you will experience it.

I don't believe in self-diagnosing, and that includes people online... Even as a nurse and someone who takes pride in having learned the body's systems, I would leave that to the doctors who (although they haven't found anything wrong with you) have much more experience than all of us. It just helps keep you away from any unnecessary stress! Once again, this just a side note! No offense was meant to anybody here.

                    Good luck, Derek.

That is the thing Matt, I never did "self diagnose" myself. I went down at work, nervous system was miss firing, kidneys over working, blood pressure rose, and was diagnosed with hyponatremia.

I got that resolved and taking care of but then strange things started happening. My right leg started to feel like it was warm on the inside but normal to the touch, then it started going numb. Then these pin prick sensations would randomly appear at different parts of my body. My first thought was "ohh it has to be my back or spine nerve type of issue". Then my ribs started hurting real bad and my abdominals started hurting.

So I went BACK into the hospital and they did a CT scan and more blood work. It all came back normal and they said I had "flank" pain. Well the pain or numbness sensations have not gone away. It continues to hurt day in and day out, so THEN I started researching the symptoms. This was when I had enough that the doctors are acting as if nothing is wrong, clearly something is and they are missing something. So I rather inform myself so when I got in on the 3rd I can say, "Did you check this.....that....this....that.." etc etc...

While I am no doctor, I'm paying these people large amounts of money to find out whats wrong with me, the least they can do is hear me out.

At this very moment I'm running a low grade 99 temp, hurt all over, have a head ache, and have piercing pains in my abdominals like razor blades are inside my intestines.

I wish it was only "in my head" because it would be fixed by now. I am pretty relaxed and low key about the situation even as stressful it is. So it should of went away otherwise but instead it remains day in and day out. I've also tried anxiety meds and lortabs for pain, neither really helped.

I'm sorry to hear that man... Does anything help relieve the pain? Perhaps try some "alternative therapy" for now. It's not much, but something like yoga, meditations, etc. It's something we can all try once in a while, whether we're in pain or just for relaxation! That helps some of my patients when they're in pain and I can't prescribe them anything. It certainly won't eliminate any symptoms but should help alleviate them!

One of the few things that helps is what Colorado just legalized. I also tried yoga last night for the first time in about 2 years.

I'm praying that come the 3rd they find whatever is causing these issues. I just want to know what to do to resolve it or what to do to manage it.

I don't like taking prescription pain meds so I try not to take them. I've only taken a lortab 3 times in 3 weeks. They wrote me a prescription for 12 but I'm trying to hold off taking them unless I really really need it.

Derek I hope everything goes well for you and you have a speedy recovery. Life is short and precious make the most with what you have. Take risks, live life and most importantly have a good time while doing so. Never dwell on past regrets just keep pushing forward going after whatever your heart tells you to. Live every second of every day of life like it is your last because no one knows what could happen the next day. Best of Luck to you

Derek, What is your diet like? Do you eat a lot of vegetables and fruit? Do you drink a lot of water? Do you drink a lot of sodas? Do you eat a lot of sugary foods?

Sounds like you could be diabetic.

Hey Derek I'm with you bro on your lifestyle changes. I've started a business and I'm moving out the country early next year to get it going.

I also had some health problems too: Diabetes/high blood pressure/cholesterol/plaque psoriasis. I was able to get rid of all my meds (except for the psoriasis med) by going on a vegan diet. And this was just 5 months doing the diet. Also by lifting/yoga/running I been able to get rid of my back/hip and fee pain that I been going through for 5 years. It's unbelievable the transformation I been going through. I couldn't walk a year ago with feet injuries and now I'm doing head stands.

I had to sacrifice a bit but man the reward is amazing. You can turn it around but it all depends on how bad you want it.
