I do not collect jerseys anymore. I believe I stopped buying them when I stopped wearing them, likely around 7th grade. That said, I still have all my old Champion NBA jerseys hooked on a single hanger in storage. I can't do anything with them but they're fun to look at. My little brothers also collected a few years ago and they have a closet full of them. Again, there's not much use for them now, but it's fun to look at all the different styles and whatnot. Sometimes I'll take one and wear it around the house when I'm back home, just for fun.

This is my favorite of theirs:

Also, I wouldn't say I collect sneakers, but I like wearing styles I like when I play basketball, so I have an assortment of Jordans, most of which are in nice condition when I buy them, but eventually get run through.

I'm very similar in that regard. I'd bet a lot of people are. I only buy Jordan's I've truly had my eye on for some time, or pairs that strike me as unique. I'm guessing there's likely a faction like us and then there's a faction that hops on the train of any hyped new release. I surely know some of the latter, who will hear a catchy name for an upcoming Jordan release (Wolf Grey, Space Jam, Bred's, etc.) and the idea of its importance is what drives them to a purchase. That is not the case in my regard. Sometimes what I like is popular, but I don't let what's popular dictate my purchase.

One of my favorite pairs (R.I.P.):

I suffered a terrible ankle sprain in them after dunking on a pack of 8th graders I was coaching (long story) but otherwise they had a great run.

I don't collect shoes anymore but dang Mike, your closet is sick!

I still have quite a few shoes because I used to be an avid nike dunk, air max/running shoe collector. Now i just buy shoes for working out and if they are comfortable. I sold most of the stuff I would call collectible and kept a few so that I have different colors for different outfits.

Reason I stopped was really just to stop spending money where it wasn't necessary for me. I just see too many people broke and a lot of times its buying stuff they don't really need.

By all means if you are getting paid well and you are saving money collect whatever you want but i don't think people should be that guy that will wait for a paycheck to buy a certain Jordan.

I do admit though that if I see some sick shoes I do get that itch and it gets to the point where i add it in the cart and i'm just 1 click away from buying it but i'm glad i ask "do i really need this right now" before I buy anything nowadays.

Then I go through this whole thing in my head. what is the reason why I'm buying this item? Is it to help me? or is it so I'm accepted in some way by other people?

I don't know if its me getting older but I'm giving less a **** about what people think about things that I do and just do things to make me productive and reach goals.

I completely agree with only buying things if you can afford it. I'm in a situation in my life with work that I can afford to buy shoes that I want. It's my only vice!!! Well maybe video games.

I endorse this idea. That sounds pretty funny.

I am rapidly approaching 29 and have a few jerseys

-Authentic Brett Favre, Reggie White and Jordy Nelson Packers Jerseys.
-A Cleveland Indians Jersey (not numbered)
              -A Clemson basketball jersey #1
-A Rex Chapman Charlotte Hornets Replica Jersey

I rarely wear them (except the Jordy one on game days) but do plan on getting a few more over the years. Eventually I hope to get some of them signed and hang most/all in my "Man Cave".

On my list to get (as of now):
Aaron Rodgers, Charles Woodson, a Clemson football jersey, Paul Coffey Flyers jersey, Kenny Lofton Indians jersey.

I am 31 and I collect and frame game worn jerseys. I am debating pulling the trigger right now on a pair of 1937 throwbacks. One being Ryan Kerrigan and the other Evan Royster. I pretty much stopped wearing jerseys like I did in my 20's. I used to have over 30 authentic jerseys. Not those **** knockoffs from china and korea. Got older and traded that stuff in for suits and button ups.

I plan to get an RGIII and or Orakpo Nike Elite jersey to wear on gamedays, but that is about it for me.

I'm 31 and own five jerseys, but haven't purchased a new one in three or four years (mainly because there aren't any players whose jerseys I feel are worth having right now). I really only wear them when I go to games, or go to a friend's house to watch a game.

When I see someone my age or older wearing them, I don't even think twice about it. I just see it as supporting your team.

I don't collect jerseys like I used to. My main reason is I was getting tired of spending all that money on the jerseys and that player would either leave because of free agency or the player would get traded within a year or two. So now I mainly just by the jersey t-shirts. But I did buy a Bo Jackson Royals powder blue jersey about a year ago. As sneakers go I have never really been a shoe collector.

If collecting sports memorabilia weather it be jersey's, shoe's whatever if it's a passion of yours don't let anyone stop you from doing because of your age. I'm 36 and collect NASCAR stuff my diecast collection is over 100 cars, I have hats, signs, I even have a race used tire off of Jeff Gordon's 24 car when her won Rick Hendrick's 100th race as a car owner.
