Vehicles can be replaced, but you can't dude.
I think everyone here is thankful you're okay and still here to keep us company on the boards.
And if it's any consolation, I have another XP code I'll PM you.

Re: Never Take Life for Granted
Glad you're safe man. That's the most important thing.
I had a similar incident a few winters back. Had a larger SUV at the time, and was possibly driving a little fast for the conditions as I was late for work.
The snow was fresh and plows or salt trucks hadn't been out yet.
I come around a bend with car coming in the opposite direction towards me. I start to lose control on the bend and start sliding into the other lane with the car nearing me head on. Both us going probably 50-55.
Luckily, I made a last second decision to turn towards the ditch instead of towards the road. My wheels caught, I avoided the car by what seemed like inches and used the momentum and my 4WD to get back out of the ditch and on to the road. I literally had to pull over and take a breath. My life flashed before my eyes for a second. Definitely was an eye opener for me.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: Never Take Life for Granted
Damn Chase, glad to hear you came out alright man. I was stung one time by a Asian man who ran a redlight. He T-boned me on my passenger door doing around 60mph. Complete total of car, but I will never forget that 1 single second that is froze in my head on the moment directly before his headlights smashed into my door. It can really shake you awake and make you question "what am I doing with my life". Just glad to hear you came out alright.Comment

Glad you're ok man!
Something similar happened to my brother a couple years ago... apparently he was sitting at a red light, and as it turned green, he was about to go when he received a text from me. That made him glance down for a second and delay hitting the gas, and right as he did that a truck came barrelling through the intersection running the red light.
Had I not sent that text, he would have been t-boned.

Glad to hear you're okay Chase.
Losing control and falling asleep are always worries for me when driving. I tend to get tired quickly in moving vehicles, so I have to really focus on any drive longer than a few hours.Comment

AU - glad you are okay, man. Those close calls always make us review our life as it stands.
I went through it it too last year.
Think I might've posted this on here, but anyway - my wife and I, and a roommate at the time, were driving down the highway after an outing. It's 2 AM, so not many cars; and I am glancing back and forth at my wife. As I notice exits coming up, down the road I see an object in the distance, it was a car - no headlights on - going right at us. Instantly I was reminded of hearing about some gang initiations in KC that were having people drive around with no headlights on to spook drivers. Before I knew it, this car was seconds from colliding into us - head on (on a 4 lane).
I swerved just in time, fishtailed out of the sequence and crashed driver side into the concrete median. Bags deployed and my arm was cut, my wife was fine (very calm funnily enough) but our roommate was just hysterical.
You're right about the smell of bags deployed and the smoke - it's a terrible feeling. Later on we found out that the driver of the other car was a drunk woman who had no license or insurance.
Overall, we had no injuries - but it could've been a milisecond between life and death. I think this is why I've approached life and everyday happenings with the inclusion of faith and beliefs. It may be frowned upon or is considered taboo - but to be honest, I don't care.
I took away from that incident that there is a plan for me - and all of us - we just have to get out of our own way to let it happen.Comment

I can't even tell you how many times....Heck...I think I've even called for my mommy a couple.
At any rate...glad you're safe and sound.

Good thing you're ok bro. I'm still feeling my accident from 8 years ago. Did you get a MRI just to make sure you didn't do some damage to your back?Comment

Re: Never Take Life for Granted
OD'd on cocaine when I was 20, nearly died, spent 12 hours in the ER with my heart racing 220 bpm. Ended up with a bruised heart that hurt for nearly a week. Gave my life over to God from then and there, and went from being a drunk/drugged out long haired would be loser to a college graduate in 4 years who 15 years later is one of the more skilled professionals in his field.
180 degree turn around that I 100% attribute to God and his endless mercy & grace. Amazing to look back at where I was and what God took and how He changed me. Keep your head up and your eyes on what's important and you'll go far my friend. In this world anything is possible.Comment

Re: Never Take Life for Granted
That story hits home with me.
I had a very close friend who almost died from overdosing.. but It's pretty TOS breaking stuff, so I'll spare the details.. I'm not completely innocent either.
I just know I was 17 and at a party and someone who knew we were friends came running up to me saying something was wrong.
Everyone there wanted to leave him be, but something told me it was something more. I got my other friend to help me get him into the car and I took him straight to the emergency room.
Calling his mother was one of the hardest things I've ever done and then retelling the story to her was even harder.
He's alive today, but he didn't cut everything out and he's not the same guy that I remember growing up with. We talk about once a month, instead of once every day and now we have absolutely nothing in common anymore. I still love the guy like a brother and would be there in a heartbeat if he needed me, but until our lifestyles are on the same page again, I just can't be around him. I've got goals of my own and they involve other things..
Everyone makes mistakes, it's just a matter of how much we learn from them, when given the opportunity to make things right again.
I'm just happy to be alive and healthy. I even went to the gym today to do some inclined walking and some biking, to keep my joints moving.
I'm not the type of person to just lay down and use something for a crutch. I'll be back to work in the morningComment
