which athlete's biography have you read?

I have been reading "Bird Watching" which is one of Larry Bird's first books about growing up in rural indiana, his coaching and playing career, etc. Most of the book was interesting but the last 100-150 pages just drag on. cant force myself to finish.

Which books have you read that was written by a current or former athlete that you really enjoyed? I want to read that dwayne wade book he has about fatherhood (can't think of the name)

I've read Steve Alford's book Playing For Knight. It was a pretty good read.

Drew Brees, it was decent a lot of insight into the process of his rehab and FA decision between MIA/NO. Didn't really care for the occasional religion part, but that's what helped him through his rehab I suppose so can't really hate on that. Also some interesting parts about his time in HS and College that I was not aware of.

Sean Payton, I enjoyed this one a lot just due to the type of personality Sean has and the people he's worked with over the years plus I feel as a coach he's probably a little more brutally honest then most. Goes over his entire career from his SDSU assistant days and on.

I read Darrell Waltrip and Michael Waltrip's biographies both are very entertaining and emotional. Michael's is being made into a movie due out in 2014

Not really an athlete, but One of a Kind about poker player Stuey Ungar is really good.

For footie fans, Sir Bobby Robson, Farewell But Not Goodbye is a great read.

The Boys Will Be Boys biography of the dynasty era Cowboys was a fantastic read IMO.

If including all "athlete" autobiographies, most of the wrestlers' are great reads. I was captivated by some of those reads.

I just got finished reading Rise and Walk by Dennis Byrd. Good book but heavy on God and religion if that's not your thing.

I've read the autobiographies of The Rock, Shawn Michaels, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I enjoyed them.

I want to read an autobiography of Mark Calaway, aka The Undertaker. Who knows if that will ever see the light of day, however.

Only one I've read is "West by West" which is Jerry West by Jerry West lol. But I thought it was great, going inside of his mind and his thought processes about everything he had to deal with. And as someone who loves to play virtual GM in Madden Franchise and NBA 2k Association, it was interesting to hear about the relationships he formed with his players, the science behind building a team, and how he strives to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together.

-Notre Dame and the Game that Changed Football - Mainly about the Army/ND game where the forward pass became more than just a gimmick, but also told the biography of Jesse Harper.

-A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cooperstown - Mickey McDermott's biography. Must read if you're a fan of baseball.

-Wins, Losses, and Lessons - Lou Holtz's autobiography.

Also, would The Blind Side count? If so, add that one.

A ton. Namath was really good until the point he retires.....then it becomes a chore. Great, great read before that. I'm just starting one on George Halas now.

Chris Jericho wrote the best wrestling one. It's funny and a great journey....the second is good, but not like the first.

Namath started out great but getting close to the end I struggled. If I hadn't had made it as far as I did I probably wouldn't have finished it. But before that, good stuff.
