Do you really care where I sent this from?MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: bench press competition?
I'm 6'0, 185.
About 2 years ago I was 210 and was benching 305 max and was repping about 245. It's pretty much unrealistic to think someone can rep 100lbs more than they weigh. Now I rep out 185-205. I don't bother maxing anymore.
And again, throwing up heavy weight for the sake of it is pointless. Better off doing 185 15 times than 275 twice.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Heh... I'm 5'8", 165 and even in HS (I weighed 155 my senior year) I couldn't bench my weight... I did get close though, my max out was 140, but I was never a great weightlifter.MLB: Minnesota Twins

Re: bench press competition?
I'm about 6ft 240lbs 32 yrs old ( Im working my way back to around 200lbs where i belong). I can get 225 up 15 times at this point and my 1 rep max right now is 325. I only do a max test once every few months just as a strength check, plus I work out by myself so it's dangerous.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

Re: bench press competition?
Now I know I couldn't bench my weight, I'd have to train and get more upper body strength. I'm naturally a string bean type of guy, so don't have the natural strength in my arms.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

About 4 years ago I went on a big strength building program that utilized low reps and heavy weights.
It helped stroke the ego, until my left shoulder blew a gasket and all my joints started screaming at me.
I don't even use a bar anymore for my benchpress. Just straight dumbbells. And my joints have thanked me for it.
Getting old sucks, haha!Comment

I weigh 175 I can rep 3 set of 6-8 at 255. Not sure I can do 275. I don't like repping heavy weight tho. I rather cut an usually do 4 sets of 185 12-14reps

Re: bench press competition?
I could rep my weight a couple of times (360), but until I get back into lifting (haven't lifted since June because of money), I wouldn't even be able to come close to repping 100lbs over.--
Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

Re: bench press competition?
I've bench just recently 250 but only 3 times and I'm now 220. At the beginning of the year I wanted to try and hit 300 max but I'm starting to not care how much weight i'm pushing, its that I'm actually pushing weight consistently that matters.
I've been doing more lighter weight/high reps. I feel I get stronger doing that rather than pushing heavy and getting bigger if that makes sense.Comment
