Re: criticism of your maturity and video games

Some great posts here. A hobby is a hobby. I have gamed all my life Just turned 40 this year and have no plans to stop.

As a father of 8 video games offer my family and I a lot of bang for the buck. I can spend 60 taking us to the movies for 2 hours of entertainment or spend that same 60 on a game that we play and enjoy for months at a time.

If your not in a relationship yet, a serious one anyway don't hide what you love from any potential suitors. IT really helps a relationship if your sig other is into what you love or at least doesn't hate it... LOL

Don't get me wrong we go out and have family outings but at our heart we are a gaming family. Ipad or Iphone, Board games or electronic. We get it in.

I have always loved video games like some have always loved collecting comics or baseball cards or fishing or attending superbowls.

It doesn't make you any less of a man or provider or anything else as far as I am concerned.

As with all things everything in moderation of course.

That is the great thing about the internet to me is that guys in this situation get to connect with other like minded gamers and feel apart of a community no matter where on earth you are.

That is a great communal aspect that many don't mention or think about. We may not have anything else in common but gaming, yet that can act as a bridge of common passion and understanding.

I have met some people on this site that I know I will know until I pass from this earth. Outstanding individuals who I would have never had the chance to meet outside of gaming.

My wife used to complain to my grandma when we were first married. Then my grandma asked where does he play them and she would say at home. My grandma then replied that she knew many husbands that would spend alot of their time in the bars away from home spending money on booze that goes down the urinal. Also many that waste money on cigarettes. I fortunately don't do either so I spend my extra money on video games. She never has complained again. I just have to let her play pacman and mrs. Pacman every once in a while.

It's also worth remembering that a lot of games are catered towards adults and "mature" people. I've been playing L.A. Noire again and the majority of the content in the game resembles something you may see on Law and Order or some other criminal justice show, which are also catered to the "mature" crowd.

I'm sure I've said it before, but games are just another form of entertainment..
