I enjoy playing Rock Band.

I'm just in a lame duck position right now.

I know I'm out the door at work in less than a month and I know I'll be in Illinois in a little over a month. I'm so indecisive about what to do with my free time that I end up doing nothing and becoming bored.

I think I get that. When I wind up having that rare occasion where I have the whole house to myself for a few days, and I can watch movies at full blast or play games all the time....

Oftentimes I wind up just watching a lot of DirecTV because I can't decide how to spend all of that free time, despite having so many great options.

It's a weird thing.

Went to my first BNI meeting yesterday. 15 member group that meets at 7:30AM. My bed did not want to let me go. Anyway, I was surprised a decent size group like that didn't have an accounting member, but I'll fill that GAAP.

There's some weird job types in there, though. I'm not sure how/why I would drum up referrals for Mary Kay or a cars salesman. The realtor there did buy my breakfast so hopefully she'll provide some good flow in the future. There is also a local brewery in there - which I guess means free beer for after-hours meetings.

Wow, just wow. That one hurt.

Good ol' AP Stylebook. Led to a discussion on whether or not to use the word "burglary" instead of "theft/stealing" if items were actually taken from the area we reported from.

It's looking like my morning class in a couple of weeks will be replaced by going to a Seattle City Council meeting to get some practice reporting events like that.

In more exciting news, I may be taking a tour of the College Gameday set/equipment with a few more individuals tomorrow. Hoping I wasn't too late.

I think my family is cursed or something. In the last few months i've had a 12 year old cousin with a rare form of brain tumor, my aunt's brain cancer came back and is inoperable, elderly relatives dying left right and center, my father reaching a point where he's going to need a kidney soon and my mother has gallbladder/gallstone problem potentially.

I'm counting my blessings that i'm relatively healthy!

So this is pretty interesting though I doubt it concerns anybody here. For those that have tax returns due next Tuesday (6 month automatic extensions for 1040s), the deadline is still effective even with the government shutdown. Even better is that while payments are still required to be paid on time refunds will not be issued during the shutdown.

I noticed that while reading up/watching news about the shutdown. So I guess 90% of the government function can be clamped down like a maximum security prison but the IRS can still take peoples money?
