I wore ties from primary to middle school, on primary school we had to use a preset tie with an elastic that went through your neck and on middle school I'd to use a regular tie but I never untied since I'd no idea how to tie it. I learned later thanks to Youtube videos but not I've forgotten since I haven't used one in four years.
Never used a bow tie though.

I didn't learn to tie a tie until I joined the military. Of course I forgot how to tie the one we had to use (full Windsor?) but I got it down now.

In high school, for prom and stuff, my girlfriend's dad always did it for me. Prom/homecoming were pretty much the only times in my life I ever wore a tie though.

I learned around my junior year of high school. My best friend in high school didn't know how to tie a tie and I had to help him with it before homecoming. It turned out to be the most intense tie tying session ever since I was playing Xbox before and this was playing in the background on a loop:

Had to wear a tie every day during the Winter at my HS. Still when I try to tie one today it always takes me a second to remember how. No big deal once you get it down. My issue has always been underestimating the length I need to keep the tie-to-torso ratio looking right.

Learn the Pratt knot. Nobody has time for the Windsor, and it looks way better than the four-in-hand.

I bought a clip on tie since I don't know how to tie one and it's just easier to use with the uniform.

Nothing like a blowout fight with the lady to end the year.

It's actually been a great year for me. 2012 was a downer, the first time I felt like a year was pretty ****ty. 2013 was a hell of a rebound. I'd like to continue this trend and progress.

Preferably less blowout fights.

Ties, we had to wear one on basketball game days in HS but I never learned how to tie one properly so my mom always had to do it for me. When I got to college, I sat down and literally learned how in a few minutes by watching Youtube.

I had to wear a tie for my old job for about two years. I also learned by watching Youtube videos.

You can learn pretty much anything by watching Youtube these days. I fixed my toilet, washer and dishwasher all from watching videos on You Tube. And I'm horrible at when it comes to repairing things.

I take pride in my tie collection. Really the only thing I have left to do is conquer the bolo tie.
