I envy you guys that can post from work, I don't have an office desk job but if I were to ever get caught posting on a Forum on a Work Computer, on company time I'm sure one of my bosses would fire me right on the spot.

This story just proves how spoiled kids are now. They upset they can't use the internet after 10pm ??? Oh the horror.....They should be glad they even own a PC and have high speed internet. Besides they should be in bed anyway or about to go to bed.

I can post from work, I just choose not to take the risk of getting written up

That is unbelievable. How could you be so desperate to use the internet after 10pm that you have to drug your parents?

I remember back on dial up, just downloading Yahoo Messenger would take an hour and it was just a 5MB file. Compared to my high speed now, I can download a 480MB file in 10 seconds. Some times I think about how much I take high speed for granted now.

When I was on dial up, I hated Windows updates because I knew it would literally take all day and it meant I couldn't browse the internet while it was downloading. Now, I just click yes and don't even give it a second thought because it downloads in seconds.

Hell even watching Youtube or listening to music is taken for granted. On dial up, wasn't able to do no streaming of any kind without it buffering every 15 seconds and eventually it would buffer so much it would time out for taking so long.

Probably was addicted to a chat room. Chat rooms can be VERY addicting.

Someone should put kids on dialup today and show them what we old fogies had to go through. I'm sure they'd appreciate what they have much more than they do now.

I know I'm amazed at the kind of things I can do on the internet these days compared to when I was younger. Every time I download something that takes longer than i'd like it to I always harken back to things you just spoke of.

YouTube sucks even on DSL...we got kicked off of our cable internet for being over the monthly limit so we had to switch. It's alright sometimes, but when all of us are using computers it takes forever to watch a video or download anything.

I can attest to this, there've been times when I started in a chat room at say 11 PM and finally crash at 6 in the morning!

Yeah I use to be addicted to this yahoo chat room many years ago. Mainly because it was the same 40 people in there so therefore everybody knew everybody on a real name basis. There was no drama, People use to stay in there all day and all night. Literally could lose yourself in there for hours just hanging out.

Made some really good friends in there too that I am still friends with to this day.

When did dial up first come along? And high speed? I actually didn't get high speed internet until about 2005, for whatever reason. That's also when I discovered the wonders of Xbox Live.
