Re: Off Topic 2013
Should've went to DUKE.The plot thickens. Here is how the call to UNC went.
Spoiler
UNC: You still owe us money
Wife: No we don't
UNC: Yes you do
Wife: then why haven't we gotten a bill in about a year? And why haven't you called us?
UNC: We did send bills but got "return to sender" and we tried to call but the number was disconnected.
Wife: What address and number are you using? (they give the correct info) Well our phone has never been disconnected and that is our address. So someone is lying.
UNC: Well there is nothing we can do for you.
So now my wife has to go find the paperwork at home. IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Off Topic 2013
Any of you guys just ever flat out lie and call in for work ?
I haven't done it in a long long time, but I just wasn't feeling it today. I actually drove halfway there first and then said **** it.
I feel a little guilty about it, but whatever..Comment

Yes, but only two or three times in my seven years at my old job. I haven't called in sick here yet (will be 2 years in June).
Hardest part was calling for me. After that I didn't think about it.

Re: Off Topic 2013
Yep. The most fun was for the US/Algeria World Cup game because right after I called in, I went to the bar.
If you have the paid time off that you've earned and you aren't putting others in a bad position or behind on your work, there is nothing wrong with it IMO.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2013
Oh man, you are missing out. I've exhausted all days that I allotted. I already took two 'sick' days this year. One was a long night out with some buddies and the other was a, 'i should stay here and watch Maury today' day.
I did use two vaca days as well, for inclement weather.

I haven't called in sick for work in 10 years. But good lord have I wanted to. Just for a free day. Not because I was sick or anything. I'd love a Ferris Bueller day.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Of all the professions, after all, few people are less suited to be suddenly thrown into the public eye than chefs. We're used to doing what we do in private, behind closed doors.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2013
If you can take one, go for it. I have only been a full timer for 2 years and change, but when I have a weekday off, it just feels special. It gets me out of the routine for one day, and that helps me get out of ruts that I am in sometimes.Comment
