Can you make it so putting "Yes" in a cell column on Excel automatically makes it green and "No" automatically goes red? I have a bunch of stuff on a list I have to go through and create a column to denote whether each item on the list is a Yes or No.

Re: Off Topic 2013
My version of excel is super old so I'm not sure how much this will help with the differing menus.
Select the column/row you want to format.
Under the Format tab select Conditional Formatting.
Put cell value equal to Yes and format it however you want. Add another condition and repeat for No.
Hope that helps.

The one I'm using here is Excel 2003. Tried that and it didn't work. Not sure why it's not working. Bah. Damn Excel. I'll mess around with it, I guess. My version of excel is super old so I'm not sure how much this will help with the differing menus.

Re: Off Topic 2013
FT is on the right track. Go to conditional formatting --> new rule. Select the new formatting rule as "format only cells that contain" and change "cell value" to "specific text" containing yes. Format with your color font and hit okay. Repeat for the "no" value. Then go into "manage rules" and make sure that it applies to the entire workbook (click the top left arrow between column A and row 1 of the workbook to select all cells), not just A1. It should apply to something like =$1:$1000000. That should work.
I use Excel all damn day so I've now become an Excel snob. I hate it.
EDIT: Went back and read your initial post. Instead of selecting the entire workbook, you should just be able to highlight the column that the rule will apply to.Last edited by WazzuRC; 01-15-2013, 02:50 PM.Comment
