    Managing multiple games

There just isn't enough time in a day along with time to spend with the wife and kids and going to work 5 days a week.

So to you guys out there that live the "family/real world" life. How do you guys manage you're franchises in multiple games.

For example I have a franchise in NBA 2k13, 12 the show, and wanna start one in madden. How do you guys go about getting the games in and "enjoying" the gaming experience.

    Sacrificing one over another.

I get kicks here or there where I will play FIFA for a while, then NBA 2k, Madden, and Bf3.

Now I'm on a Bf 3 kick and probably will be for about a month. After, I'll probably switch and play Madden for a while. All my spare gaming time goes to one or the other for a while.

      Re: Managing multiple games

The older you get and more responsibilities you aquire, the more impossible it is to finish multiple seasons, campaigns, etc. I've started lowering my season schedule on my sports games in a attempt to finish one season. No way in hell can I play a 82, 162 and 16 game seasons within a year and try to finish games like Skyrim, Boderlands and Mass Effect and at the same time becoming addicted to online shooters where dozens and dozens of hours are required. Humanly impossible with a job, kid, wife and me time.

One thing my bro does and I admire him for it is he will continuously play a game until completion before he moves on to the next one. No matter if the game is so-so, as long as the story is compelling to him, he'll finish it. Me on the other hand...I cant finish a game to save my life.

As far as sports games go, I know its a big sacrifice to shorten a season but trust me, if and when you finally make it to the last month, you'll thank yourself.

I'm just starting to get to this point. Took a new job and while the hours aren't crazy as I'm on salary and some days I may only have to work for 3 hours, but I have quarterly goals so every three months I work about 60-70 hours for a couple of weeks and I will be getting married this spring, and I am in shcool. It's not like when I was single and 22. But what I do is I try to balance things out. I also have become well aclimated to getting between 4-6 hours of sleep a night.

So I may play a game for an hour when I get home, then spend time with the fiance, then do some school work, then spend more time with the fiance. Put her to bed and catch-up on gaming or TV shows, then sleep. I use the weekends too. Saturday is "family day" so I let her decide what we do. Sunday's are "Football Day" so I usually get left alone that day. After the SB things change and we can do more stuff together on Sunday so I can play more games on Saturday.

I don't do much online gaming now since I just spend the time doing other stuff (watching TV with my fiancee or whatnot).

Right now my rotation is XCOM, Far Cry 3, and Hitman:Absolution. XCOM and Hitman I got on sale on Steam, and Far Cry 3 I just had to have (I rarely buy new nowadays).

It's sacrificing for me too. I usually try to get in a mindset where I want to beat a certain game and just play that through, but sometimes I just want to play something else.

I have found that I don't really enjoy sports games as much nowadays. They're fun, but with my limited time I'd rather play a more engaging game of another type. I got Madden this year but haven't gotten that into it.

I like the shorten seasons in franchises. I'm restarting my chise in 2k and will do this also with the show when it releases it's new game.

With the family and use being very active us doing things together the time frame is little.

Thanks guys for the info and what you do with you're time.

Yeah i'm having an issue managing multiple games, sometimes it gets to the point where I have so many options or games I need to beat that I just settle on watching Netflix for the night instead

Lol I'm in the same boat I literally stand in front of my tv looking at the gaming options of the night for like 10 mins. No joke.

Then just say what the hell Netflix it is

                    Re: Managing multiple games

I used to be a "one game at a time" type of guy, but now I try to juggle a few at a time.

For sports games I have my own system for simming that works pretty well for me.

For football games I just play every game. The seasons short, in comparison to other sports, so there's no sense in skipping any games.

NBA 2K I play the first ten games, then make sure that I play everyone team once (excluding the teams I originally played during my first ten games). Then I play late season games at my own discretion. I usually play anywhere from 30-35 games during the regular season.

For baseball games I play the first ten, then every sixth game. Rather than just simming the games in-between, I super sim them into the 7th inning and intervene accordingly. I really wish NBA 2K would add super-simming, but at this point I am worried that they will never add it. I will say that I have never finished more than one season in a baseball game and with baseball video games and baseball as a whole on the decline in my life, I doubt that I will ever play another season.

All other games I just play one at a time normally.

I spend too much time in front of the computer. My wife goes to sleep a lot earlier than she used to. Before we used to stay up and watch tv - but since she's pregnant, she just loves to sleep. I'm enjoying the free time I have now - later on it will be different I know that.

Thanks, brutha - it is our first, so yeah - I'm ready to get off the computer; just need that push sometimes. I'm trying to in shape too to be an example to my kid(s) as well.

My wife just had our second last week. My gaming world came to a halt very quickly but it's really a getaway for us guys because my wife is opposed to leaving and having guy time at a bar like I used to do. Now my guy time is playing video games once the kids are down.
