    Amazon Purchase Problem

Hi guys. Wondered if I can get a little advise from people who are frequent users of Amazon which I am certainly not.

I purchased a toy for my son 1 week ago today. It still states that it will "ship soon". I checked the seller's information and for the most part they have had rave reviews. I looked at their shipping policies and it states that they ship within 2 days and if not they contact the buyer with the reason for delay. None of this has happened. I have contacted them to no avail. I have requested cancellation from them and have not had a response.

The next step I guess is to get Amazon themselves involved. The strangest thing about it all is, the money has not shown up as charged to my credit card yet. How can I ask for a refund if the money hasn't been taken yet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Can you cancel the order?

With Amazon you aren't charged until the order has been shipped.

Thanks for the reply. I was not aware that you are not charged until the item is shipped.

I clicked the button that says "Request Cancellation". From there it asked me to write a description as to why. I did and I assume this response went back to the seller as I had a email sent instantly to me saying "Here is a copy of the e-mail that you sent to **********". Do Amazon receive a copy of my request or do I have to contact them separately?

I'm not 100% sure how the communication flows for Marketplace stuff as Amazon sees that purely as third-party transactions and they just set up the "marketplace" as a place to list. Of course the seller has rules to follow. There should be a contact/customer service link to Amazon in either the emails or on your account/order page, but I'm not sure if you contacting the seller will be forwarded to Amazon.

I feel a bit more at ease after you telling me that I won't be billed until it ships (if it ever does!). I'll leave it a few more days to see if I even receive a response from the seller. If not I will contact Amazon and let them be aware of their practices.

I said the heck with it and emailed Amazon to inform them of my dissatisfaction with this seller's practices. Within 30 minutes I get an email saying my item was shipped. I've read many stories about people having been given bogus tracking numbers and items never getting delivered. Hopefully this turns out good.

You can have amazon call you. Go to the help page and select contact us. Then fill out the questions and select the call us at the end and you can have them call you.

Some times the 3rd party transactions take a little longer. Usually it is listed and may differ for each item. I'm a prime member, so I suspect that I get better treatment, but Amazon is usually great even for non-prime.

I returned 1 3rd party order and it was easy and they even refunded the shipping, which I wasn't expecting them to do.

I find that when I'm having a problem on amazon (very rare, but...) I use the "chat" function...

You get one of their customer service reps pronto and you can "copy / paste" or link to anything you need them to see to help resolve the issue...

They're always VERY pro active, because they obviously don't want these third party sellers to give the site a bad name...

                Good luck!
