    Interview with SportsmanTO

How long have you been reading Operations Sports and what brought you here?

I was bored one day and I was actually looking for some information on baseball videogames. Well I came across OS and browsed the forums for a while. I decided that I liked what I saw so I joined and made my first post giving my opinion on the graphical differences between WSB2K3, ASB04, and MVP03.

What made you decide to donate to Operation Sports?

Well i've wanted to donate for a long time especially in light of my ungodly amount of posts in less than a year. Due to monetary issues, appealing to parents (i'll get into that) and general laziness I haven't been able to donate until now. I really like the atmosphere here and the varying opinions. I've met quite a few ppl who i've grown to respect with their posts and PMs and to name them all would be a bit of a diservice as I might forget someone.

OS also reunited me with an old childhood buddy and so this place really has sentimental value just for that alone. Oh and I love the political debates.

    Your favorite Sports Teams?

Baseball: The Toronto Blue Jays, i've been a fan since 1989 but my first real memories started occuring from '91 onwards. I believe in the JP plan....oh and I really want one of those new caps!

football: (CFL) The Toronto Argos, gotta support the home team even tho no one gives a rat's patootie about them.

(NFL) The Buffalo Bills, I've been a fan since '89. I consider Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed as the epitome of football. Those guys left an indellible mark on me. I used to always bet on the Bills winning the SB. Let's just say I was bullied and beaten up a lot during those years. Oh yeah and Scott Norwood is still on my hitlist!

Hockey: The Toronto Maple Leafs, actually I'm not a big hockey fan (I know BLASPEMY!) but I keep up with the sport and avidly watch the playoffs so at least i'm still Canadian in some respect.

basketball: The Toronto Raptors, been a fan from the start. I've also been to at least one game in the last 3 yrs.

    What are your hobbies?

Sports Gaming of course! Oh ok you want my OTHER hobbies. Well i'm a quiet type I like watching movies. Almost any kind of movie really so long as it has a good plot and moves at a good pace. I love to read tho I haven't read as much as I used to. I'm into biographical and historical stuff. That leads nicely into my love of politics and history. My main interest being the Nazi Germany/WWII period. I also love collecting anything I can get on Marvin Gaye, my absolute favourite singer of all time. I'm a pretty boring guy really LOL.

Tell us about about your family?

My family came from Guyana in the mid 1970s. My mother Lorraine used to work as a domestic until she was pregnant with me. It turned out that she acquired German Measles. This was not good as it caused me to be a Rubella baby. I was born mostly blind and deaf and VERY tiny. My parents have always been very loving and humble people and they took it in stride. Tho a year into my life they noticed that I didn't seem to be hearing well so they had me go for some tests. There's a famous picture of my father holding me and crying on his birthday when the test results came out and it was determined that I was deaf.

My mother had then become a babysitter while my father, a former bank teller was now working at a storage type place. I grew up in a sheltered enviroment and a few yrs later my sister was born. Lisa (my sister) was not welcomed by me initially as a few minutes after she arrived home for the first time I threw a ball of cheese at her! LOL

About 12 or so years ago my family moved into a house and my mother started working for Zellers (the Canadian Wal-Mart) and my father was tinkering with several businesses. Needless to say my family has had many adventures with health and other isues but we've always been a close knit family. I've always been one to embrace the warmth of home as i'm grateful to even be here. My sister now works at Zellers while my mother is a supervisor and my father is now working at a medical supplies facility. I've tried my hand at work but it has never panned out. I will, however be looking for another job sooner or later.
