Where do you go to get your plane tickets?

I need to find a good price to fly from Pasco, WA to Dallas, Texas on February 14th (and return on the 17th).

I've tried Orbitz, but was wondering if there's something better out there. The cheapest ticket I can find on there is $486, and I am hoping to do better than that.

    Thanks!

I'll make sure to save you a beer when you come down.

As far as my flights, I'll usually go straight with the airline and hope for the best. I do get American Airlines points with my credit card that I'll use towards a flight, but that's about it. Flying just gets more and more expensive. Fuel costs haven't skyrocketed or anything, so there's no real reason why flights should be so high.

Usually go with Expedia or directly with an airline.

Re: Where do you go to get your plane tickets?

        Depends on where.

For the cheapest, always see if Allegiant Air has straight through flights to where you want to go, because those will be the lowest.

However, there are some caveats to flying on Allegiant. If you are traveling with family, and you want to pick seats, you'll have to pay a little extra, otherwise, seats are not assigned. Sure, there is a seat listed on your ticket, but if you're not at the gate when your zone is called, it's up for grabs after that.

Also, if you are a person, like myself who likes to fly only with carry-ons. They now charge you for an additional carry-on. So usually I'd have my backpack and small two wheeled suitcase that fits in the overhead. Now, they charge you for that.

Finally, the plane, is it or miss. All Allegiant Planes are old planes from other airlines they buy for cheaper. So some have seats that don't recline, some the seats are really uncomfortable. It's pretty much a crap shoot.

However, the 250-300 bucks I usually save, helps me get over it.

If they don't have what I need, then I use Kayak.com. Allows you to compare 4 or 5 different travel sites at once. You could also give Priceline a shot and take a chance at naming your own price.

EDIT - Checked for you. Allegiant does have flights out of Pasco, but none that connect directly to Dallas.

You are trying to fly from a small airport, so it is going to be more expensive as a rule. If you could take a bus or train to Portland or Seattle, you would probably save a bunch. You are going to have to fly to Seattle or another city anyways to get a connection.

It's a smaller airport, but not too small. I'm seeing flights that have one stop in either Denver or SLC. I might fly out of Spokane if it's cheaper.

Yeah, according to my dad, airlines are starting to nickel and dime you.

There is the extra carry on as 13 mentioned, plus, he paid insurance for the flight in case dad or mom is sick that week, they can go on a later date, etc......

I've used kayak in the past.

I use kayak to see who is cheapest and then play the waiting game. I've gotten flights for as little as $170 in the past couple of years that were $300+ a few weeks prior or a few weeks later. All seems kind of random how some of the pricing goes.

                    @12,

Spokane is cheaper than Pasco by about $100 roughly. I used to be the Manager of a International Travel Agency, side story, but anyways I personally use SkyScanner.com as I have found them to be the best scanner of flights (according to pricing) but always check Kayak, Orbitz and the other biggies.

Here is the link for the search I did from Spokane, the cheapest was $390:

We used Expedia for our trip to Europe(Cruise) in July (someone else was doing tons of research and found a great deal for when we wanted to fly).

Otherwise I have a Southwest credit card, so we fly Southwest domestic. Bags fly free and generally a good experience overall.

                          LOL

As long as you pay off the credit card every month it's free flights for just doing normal life IMO.

In regards to that Southwest card, they're offering a free roundtrip flight as a sign-up bonus.

Wouldn't I need to spend $1K before that happens?
